In overgrown pasture, on the N-facing slopes of Killeen Mountain. The rath is inaccessible due to dense overgrowth. An earthen bank was noted along the NW arc. The rath is indicated as an oval enclosure (c. 35m NW-SE; c. 30m NE-SW) on the 1846 OS 6-inch map, and as a roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 35m), truncated by a linear field boundary along the NE arc, on the 1894 OS 6-inch map. It is visible as a cropmark of a semicircular enclosed area (c. 35m NW-SE), with a linear field boundary at NE, on an aerial photograph (GSIAP, W 16-15) taken in 1973. This is probably one of the two raths recorded in Doocarrig beg townland in the 1940s, one of which was in Jeremiah Mahony's land and the other in Clem. Cooper's land (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry). A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner. A price is the price recorded for a past sale, not a valuation.
