In pasture, on an WNW-facing slope. A circular area (c. 53m E-W; c. 44m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 5.8m; int. 1.1m; ext. H 2.5m). The bank is incorporated into the field boundary system along the E and S arcs. In general the interior slopes down to the WNW. The WNW sector of the interior has been raised to compensate for the hillslope. There are cattle gaps through the bank at N and NE. There are overgrown areas along the internal perimeter of the bank at NE, S and NW. Another rath (KE058-055----) is c. 50m to the ESE. Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. Date of upload: 31 January 2011 - KE058-055: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CKE058-055----. In pasture, on an ESE-facing slope. The present remains consist of a D-shaped area (c. 48m E-W; c. 40m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1m) SE-S, by a scarp S-WSW and along the straight sides at NW and E by NE-SW and N-S field boundaries, respectively. The field boundary at NW may incorporate material from the bank. The N sector of the interior slopes down to the S. The S portion of the interior is raised to compensate for the hillslope. A WNW-ESE field boundary crosses the S half of the interior. There is a possible entrance in the S arc. The rath is indicated on the 1846 OS 6-inch map as a circular area (diam. c. 40m) which is crossed to the SW of the centre by a WNW-ESE field boundary. On the 1894 OS 6-inch map, a linear field boundary defines the E side and the hachured bank at N has been straightened to give the enclosure a roughly oval appearance. Another rath (KE058-054----) is c. 50m to the WNW. Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. Date of upload: 31 January 2011 - KE058-391: Enclosure, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CKE058-391----. In rough pasture, on a gentle W-facing slope. Reported to the Archaeological Survey of Ireland as a possible enclosure. Sub-oval area (dims. 12m WNW-ESE; 8m NNE-SSW) defined by scarp (Wth 1.8m; H 0.2m) and truncated by field boundary (long axis NE-SW) and deep drain across NE-sector. W-arc is uneven and irregular in shape. Possible fosse (Wth 2.1m; D 0.15m) noted at NW. Interior is grass covered; two low boulders in NW sector. Evidence of vegetation clearance across this area. No potential feature depicted at this location upon historic mapping. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner. A price is the price recorded for a past sale, not a valuation.
