In the SE half of an ecclesiastical enclosure (KE102-019003-). This church is not visible at ground level. It is indicated on the 1844 OS 6-inch map as 'Drombane Church (in ruins)' and on the 1895 OS 6-inch map as 'Drombane Church (site of)'. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. In an ecclesiastical enclosure (KE102-019003-). Numerous low uninscribed grave-markers, orientated N-S, are evident in the NW half of the ecclesiastical enclosure. Some graves are evident as low grass-covered mounds. According to Dennehy (1997, 158), the majority of the grave-markers contain veins of quartz. Dennehy (ibid.) also noted an 'unusual box-like construction of boulders' in the NE quadrant of the burial ground. The area was last used as a burial ground for unbaptised infants one hundred years ago (ibid.). A souterrain (KE102-019004-) occurs within the burial ground and there is a church site (KE102-019001-) in the SE half of the ecclesiastical enclosure. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. In pasture, on a hillock with commanding views in all directions over the valley of the Dromoghty River. An elevated roughly oval area (46m E-W; 36m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4.5m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 2.1m) SWW and NNWN and elsewhere by a scarp (H 1.7m). The scarp is faced EW with a stone wall which appears to be of recent construction. A distinct inward curve in the scarp at SW suggests that part of this area may have been damaged or removed. Field-clearance rubble is piled against the scarp face WNNW and NSW. This rubble also spills into the interior at irregular intervals. A children's burial ground (KE102-019002-) and a souterrain (KE102-019004-) occupy the NW half, where the uneven ground surface is partially obscured by overgrowth. The church site (KE102-019001-) is in the SE half, where coniferous trees and scrub obscure the uneven surface. Stones are evident on the surface intermittently, especially in the SE half. A circular (diam. 3.4m) arrangement of large stones on the surface at NE appears to be a recent addition. In the NW quadrant of an ecclesiastical enclosure (KE102-019003-) and within a children's burial ground (KE102-019002-). A downsloping grassy passage (L 2.5m; Wth 2m) S-N leads to a collapsed opening (D 1.6m) where the earth-cut sides and the curved roof of the souterrain are evident. A concave depression (diam. 1.2m; D 0.6m) to the E of the opening is probably the result of a collapse within the souterrain.
