In pasture, on a SW-facing slope. A circular area (28.4m N-S; 26m E-W) defined by two earthen banks, an intervening fosse and an outer fosse. The inner bank (Wth 2.8m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H 0.9m) is stone-faced and has numerous gaps. The intervening fosse (Wth 4m at base) is evident E-NE. The outer bank (Wth 3.6m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1m) is evident S-SE and there is a scarp (H c. 1.2m) SE-S. The faint outline of a possible outer fosse is visible S-WSW. There are possible entrances in the inner bank at S and in the outer bank at NNE. Stones are scattered about the interior, making the surface uneven. This is the rath recorded in the 1940s on Peter O'Meara's land (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry). A possible souterrain (KE058-060001-) and a hut site (KE058-060002-) are in the NE quadrant. In a rath (KE058-060----). In the 1940s 'a hole' was recorded in the centre of a rath in Dromdoohig (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry). An opening in the internal face of the inner bank of the rath at ESE may be an air vent for the souterrain. A roughly circular depression (diam. 1.5m; D 0.5m) at the centre of a hut site (KE058-060002-) in the NE quadrant of the rath may also represent part of this possible souterrain. Within the NE quadrant of a rath (KE058-060----). The remains of a circular hut (diam. 2m), defined by a stone wall (T 0.5m; H 0.3m) abuts the inner face of the inner bank of the rath at NE. The entrance is at S. There is a possible souterrain (KE058-060001-) in the interior. Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork.
