In pasture, on a SE-facing slope. A circular area (diam. c. 38m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4.2m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 3.5m) NE-NW, truncated by a farmyard NW-N and levelled N-NE. The interior has been infilled recently with earth and stone, raising it to the same level as the farmyard. Field boundaries radiate externally from the S arc. A souterrain (KE057-030001-) is associated with the rath. This is probably the 'one ringed fort' recorded in the 1940s on John Moirarty's land (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry). Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. In a rath (KE057-030----). In the 1940s a 'cave' was recorded in a rath on John Moriarty's farm (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry). There are no visible remains of this possible souterrain. Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. Date of upload: 31 January 2011 - KE057-031: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CKE057-031----. In pasture, on a rise. The remains of a circular area defined by an arc (C 26m) of bank N-SE. The bank (Wth 2.5m; int. H 1.2m; ext. H 2.3m) is covered in overgrowth. There is a slight trace of a levelled bank, in the form of a low rise, SE-S. The rath is indicated on the 1846 and 1895 OS 6-inch maps as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m). Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. Date of upload: 31 January 2011 - KE057-054: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CKE057-054----. In pasture, on a gentle S-facing slope. A circular area (c. 29m N-S; c. 28m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.1m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.7m) SE-NE. A farm building has been built on the line of the bank at E. Farm buildings externally abut the S arc of the bank. There is a shed built into the bank along the SSW arc. Mature trees grow around the bank. The interior is obscured by a cow shed and farm refuse. This is probably 'Fort David', which was recorded in the 1840s as lying on the W boundary of Dromin (OSNB, Killorglin, no. 1, 15). There is no visible surface trace of the external fosse indicated, S-NW, on the 1895 OS 6-inch map. Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. Date of upload: 31 January 2011 Works at or in relation to a recorded monument need two months' written notice to the National Monuments Service (National Monuments (Amendment) Act 1994, section 12). ## Architectural heritage (National Inventory of Architectural Heritage) No building of the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage stands in the townland of Dromin. ## Ground and risks (Radon Risk Map of Ireland, EPA; Landslide Susceptibility Classification and LiDAR, Geological Survey Ireland) - Radon: About 1 in 10 homes in this area is likely to have high radon levels.
