In pasture, on top of the W-facing slope of a ridge. In the 1840s it was recorded that a small disused burial ground was attached to Kilcredane Church (KE058-015001-) (OSNB, Kilcredane, no. 1, 20). This burial ground is known locally as a children's burial ground. There are no visible remains of any graves or grave-markers in the vicinity of the church. In pasture, on top of a ridge. The collapsed remains of a two-phase church. The remains consist of the low loose rubble limestone walls (H c 0.6m) of the E end of the church (int. 7.4m N-S; 3.76m E-W) with the upstanding remains of the N and S wall (H c. 2.5m; L c. 3m) at the W end. The low walls of a slightly wider addition to W (9.55m E-W; 6.7m N-S) give the church a nave and chancel layout. The remains of the upstanding S wall at the E end butts onto and overlaps the external wall of the earlier church by c. 1m. There is a splayed window ope embrasure at the E end of the S wall. The level interior is overgrown at the E end with lots of loose rubble stones scattered about. During a subsequent inspection in 2003, it was noted that the wall to the W of the window embrasure had collapsed. According to local information, there was an altar at the E end. There is a children's burial ground (KE058-015----) in the immediate vicinity of the church. In improved pasture, to E, S and W of Kilcredane Church (KE058-015001-). Sub-rectangular area (dims. c. 45m WNW-ESE; c. 25m NNE-SSW) defined by scarp (Wth 2.5m; H 0.25m) ENE->W; appears to represent an inner enclosure in close proximity to the church. A potential outer enclosure is traceable as a sub-rectangular area (dims. c. 90m WNW-ESE; c. 60m NNE-SSW) defined by scarp (Wth 3.5m; H 0.2m) ENE->S and SW->WNW; Curvilinear cropmark WNW->NW evident upon modern aerial photography (Bing 2015). Fosse (overall Wth 5.0m; basal Wth 1.0m; D 0.1m) traceable ENE->SE. Interior of both enclosures is generally level and grass covered. Both enclosures are bisected by a field boundary (long-axis NNE-SSW) which is to immediate E of Kilcredane Church. Not visible in field to N due to dense overgrowth of vegetation. - KE058-235: Barrow - unclassified, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CKE058-235----. This potential feature was reported by Michael Connolly, County Archaeologist, Kerry County Council. It was identified by him during the course of an assessment of a 40 square mile area for the purpose of choosing a road route in 2000 to the north of Killarney. In level, impenetrable coniferous plantation, at base of a steep N-facing slope; Gweestin River to N. Access not gained. Reported to the Archaeological Survey of Ireland as the cropmark of a barrow. No potential feature evident at this location upon historic mapping. This area is obscured by forestry upon modern aerial photography indicating that the area of the potential feature may have been planted (OSi 2010; Bing 2015).
