In undulating pasture, on a rise near the SE shore of Kilmakilloge Harbour. This possible rath is not visible at ground level. It is indicated as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m) on the 1846 OS 6-inch map. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. In mixed woodland and pasture, on a hillock to the W of the Healy Pass road. A raised roughly circular area (28m N-S; 23m E-W; H 2.05m) defined by a scarp with a rim, an intervening fosse (Wth 2.75m) WNW-NNE and an outer bank (H 0.15m) WNW-NNE. The earthen scarp and the rim are eroded and crossed by numerous cattle-breaks and paths. There is an entrance ramp (Wth 5.6m) at SW. The interior is uneven and slopes gently down to the E. There is a souterrain (KE108-018001-) in the SE quadrant. Trees grow within and around the rath. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. In a rath (KE108-018----). In the SE quadrant of the rath are two depressions, c. 9m apart, each with an opening at its centre. These depressions indicate a general NNW-SSE orientation for the souterrain beneath. Through the opening in the larger depression (1.9m N-S; 1.4m E-W) at NNW, the souterrain chamber (H 1.6m), possibly earth-cut and with a curving roof, is visible. Humpback road bridge (long axis NE-SW) spanning the Owenshagh River. Built of random rubble sandstone. Two central segmental arches (span 4.9m) with roughly shaped voussoirs span the river channel; corbels project at the springing points under arches. High pointed cut-water appears to have been added to central pier (Wth 1m). Semicircular dry arch (span c. 5m) on each bank, each separated from adjacent main arch by a wide pier; N-most bears a high, wide cut-water, apparently an addition, on the upstream side. The N dry arch has been encased in concrete on the downstream side and the parapet has been rebuilt over it. Stone paving occurs under both dry arches and an artificial cascade has been built on the downstream side of the S arch. The river bed under the two main arches has been masked by concrete. Approximately 10m to N is a smaller bridge (KE 108-066----) spanning a minor channel of the river.
