A roughly circular area (diam. c. 22m), covered with overgrowth, defined by a low earthen bank (Wth 6m; int. H 0.35-1.1m; ext. H 3.2m). There is a possible entrance (Wth 2.2m) at ESE and a cattle-break at W. An intervening fosse (Wth 2.9m) is visible W-NE, SE-SSE and S-WSW. There is an outer bank (Wth 2.25m; int. H 1.35m; ext. H 0.4m) W-NE, SE-SSE, S-WSW. The interior is level and wet. There is a closed-up possible souterrain (KE108-019001-) to the E of the centre. In a rugged, gorse-covered area, on a W-facing slope overlooking Glanmore Lake. A square enclosure (c. 10m x c. 10m) is indicated and named 'pound' on the 1846 OS 6-inch map. This possible enclosure is not visible at ground level. A laneway connects this pound with the road. It is also named 'pound' on the OS Fair Plan. One-storey vernacular house on the W side of the road just N of Ahadav Br. (KE108-010---). The front (E-facing) is of three bays with a central rectangular door ope, with a tongue-and-groove door, flanked on either side by a rectangular window ope with a sheet glass sash window. The house is gable-ended with a chimney on each gable and a loft window in the N gable end. The house is rendered but random rubble is visible where the render has fallen away. There is a recent lean-to addition to the rear. A stone outhouse with a loft is close to the S end of the house and at right angles to it. The house is not marked on the 1846 OS 6-onch map although some structures are present on the site. In pasture on a SW-facing slope overlooking the valley of the Croanshagh River. The partly collapsed remains of a three-sided iron-smeltin furnace built into the slope at NE. The SW side is defined by a wall (T 2.4m; ext. H 6.7m; int L 5.1m) of uncoursed rubble with large stones at its base. The NW wall consists of two sections with a short protruding return marking the break between the two. The SW end of this wall (T 2m; H 1.8m; L 2.4m) is better built than the portion to the NE which is considerably narrower (Wth 1.3m) and appears to have been rebuilt as a field boundary. The NE wall (H 1.6m; L 6m) is well built. The site is covered with overgrowth and the interior and exterior to the SW are strewn with rubble. According to local information, slag has been found in the field to the S and SE. Charcoal, produced at a hut site (KE111-020----), two enclosures (KE109-089002-, KE109-059----) and two charcoal-making sites (KE111-004003-, KE111-022----) in the locality, supplied the iron smelter. McCracken (1965, 134) listed this site as Glenmore (Derreen) and noted that it belonged to Orpens and that is was in use in the early 18th century. According to local information, the smelter is said to have been constructed in 1708. A limekiln is indicated here on the 1846 OS 6-inch map.
