Internal diameter 47.5m N-S, 51m E-W Lissalassa/Lios an Lusa (ringfort of the herb). This bivallate ringfort is situated to the SE of Ardfert village in the barony of Trughanacmy. It consists of a large circular area which is enclosed by two banks and an intervening fosse. The inner enclosing bank is constructed of earth and stone and is well defined. It is on average 7m wide at the base and rises to a maximum of 2.4m above the interior and 4.2m above the fosse. The enclosing fosse is U shaped and on average 3m wide. The outer bank is also constructed of earth and stone and rises to 3m above the fosse and 3.7m above the external ground level. The interior is at a higher level than the surrounding land and the entrance lies to the E. There is a 2m wide gap in the inner bank to the SW. Its exterior side was stone faced by the landowner; however, the lower layer of stonework would appear to be of an earlier date. It is inaccessible, but it is possible to see that it was stone lined. This enclosure is situated SE of Lissalussa (Lios an Losa) rath (KE020-070----). It is not marked on any edition of the OS maps. All that survives today is a semi-circular earthen bank which is cut on its NE side by a fieldbank running in a NW-SE direction. Another fieldbank cuts through the S sector in a SW-NE direction. The surviving enclosing bank is 5m-8m wide and .6m high. In 1969 the bottom of a quern stone and some bones were discovered on this site (National Museum of Ireland Archaeological Acquisitions 1969, 25). The above description is derived from C. Internal diameter 25m N-S, 23.4m E-W Lisnageeha/Lios na Gaoithe (ringfort of the wind). This small univallate ringfort is situated on a rise and has a good view of the surrounding land. It consists of a circular area enclosed by a 6m wide earth and stone bank. The bank rises to an average of 1.2m above the interior and 2.4m above the external ground level. The interior is at a higher level than the surrounding land. Two fieldbanks touch the exterior side of the enclosing bank, to the WSW and ENE. The above description is derived from C.
