In pasture, on a low SW-facing slope. A circular area (44m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 6.2m; int. H 1.3m; ext. H 1.25m). Breaks occur in the bank at E (Wth c. 2m) and W (Wth c. 3m). A slight trace of the bank remains across the breach at E. The breach in the bank at W may be recent. The interior is generally flat apart from a raised linear ridge (Wth c. 4m; max. H 1m) which extends (L c. 20m) N-S in the E sector, and it is covered with overgrowth. There is a souterrain (KE058-080001-) in the SW quadrant. Field boundaries radiate from the bank externally at W, N and SE. This is probably the rath referred to in the 1840s in the centre of Lisroe (OSNB, Kilcummin, no. 2, 30). There is a standing stone (KE058-135----) c. 100m to the ENE. Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. Date of upload: 31 January 2011 - KE058-080001: Souterrain, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CKE058-080001-. In a rath (KE058-080----). An opening (L c. 0.6m; H c. 0.5m) the SW quadrant of the rath reveals that the souterrain extends to the NE and SW. The SW section (Wth c. 1m; H c. 1m) is earth-cut and roofed with stone lintels. The NE section appears to be less extensive but it is obscured by collapse. Another inaccessible opening to the souterrain was identified c. 5.5m to the SW. Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. Date of upload: 31 January 2011 - KE058-081: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CKE058-081----. In pasture, on a low hill. A circular area (44m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank (int. H 0.55m; ext. H 2.2m) which appears to be well-preserved beneath the overgrowth. An external fosse (D 0.45m) is also covered by overgrowth in places. There is a slight slope down to the S in the S half of the interior which is otherwise level. The centre and the E sector of the interior are covered by overgrowth. This is probably the rath called 'Lissrooa Fort' which was mentioned in the 1840s as being in the E side of Lisroe and from which 'this townland derives its name' (OSNB, Kilcummin, no. 2, 30). Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. Date of upload: 31 January 2011 - KE058-135: Standing stone, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CKE058-135----. In pasture, on the summit of a low hill. This standing stone (dims. 1.5m x 1m; H 2m), orientated ENE-WSW, is roughly oval in shape and plan. It tapers towards the top on the N and S faces. The surface of the stone is irregular on the W face but relatively smooth elsewhere. There is a rath (KE058-080---) c. 100m to the WSW. Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. Date of upload: 31 January 2011 - KE058-387: Enclosure, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CKE058-387----. In improved pasture, on a NE-facing slope. Reported to the Archaeological Survey of Ireland as an extant mound. Well defined sub-oval area (dims. 6.5m NNE-SSW; 5.5m ESE-WNW) defined by low bank (overall Wth 2.65m; Wth at top 0.85m; int. H 0.25m; ext. H 0.2m) SE->SW and scarp (Wth 1.5m; H 0.6m) elsewhere. Scarp (Wth 1.5m; H 0.2m) is poorly defined on W side. Large stones visible in bank at S. Interior is grass covered with occasional small to medium sized stones on the surface and has slight tilt downslope to NE. This monument is very regular in plan and may possibly have been modified over time. No potential feature depicted at this location upon OS historic mapping. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner. A price is the price recorded for a past sale, not a valuation.
