In rough hill pasture, in a sheltered hollow, on a S-facing slope of Mangerton Mountain. The remains of an L-shaped dwelling (7.1m E-W; 6m N-S) with the projection (Wth 3.4m) at the W end. A random rubble drystone wall (T 0.6m; H 1.4m) forms the N, W and parts of the S and E sides. An oval cattle pen (int. dims.: 7m E-W; 4m N-S) is inserted into the SE corner. A blocked-up lintelled window and door ope occur in the W wall; a door ope in the E wall is formed by a gap between the wall and the cattle pen. These appear to be 18th-19th century structures; the W building - possible dwelling and the E - possible animal fold, were used for penning sheep in more recent times. In rough hill pasture, on the S-facing slope of Mangerton Mountain. A network of relict field walls appears intermittently in a roughly rectangular area (c. 550m E-W; c. 250m N-S). In a rath (KE085-005----). According to local information, the ground collapsed beneath farm machinery and a 'cave', in which a person could stand upright, was revealed. This 'cave', probably a souterrain chamber (on a NW-SE axis), had drystone walls and was roofed with stone lintels. In it was found a possible ogham stone (KE085-005002-). There are no visible remains of the souterrain. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. In a possible souterrain (KE085-005001-). According to local information, a broken roof lintel with lines etched along one corner, similar to an ogham inscription, was found in the possible souterrain, removed from it and subsequently returned to it.
