Children's Burial Ground: This poorly preserved enclosure, 26m N-S x 25m E-W, is located in level pasture on the N side of the Valencia river estuary. The enclosing bank is of earth, survives to an average height of .7m, and is, on average, 2.75m wide. A 4m wide gap occurs at E, but it is not clear if two large slabs here, standing 5.1m apart, formed part of the original entrance. The interior contains a large number of low, uninscribed grave-markers. The site was no longer in use as a burial ground by the late nineteenth century. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 1036. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. A circular enclosure, bisected by a field boundary, is marked at this location on the first edition of the OS map. The site is located in a gently sloping field on the N side of the Valencia river estuary. A raised ridge, running N-S through the site's interior, is all that remains of the interrupting field boundary. The earthen enclosing bank, severely denuded, survives to an external height of .6m and barely rises above the site's interior. It has a basal width of 4.2m. The area enclosed measures 16m N-S x 16.3m E-W. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 764. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 29 July 2013 Works at or in relation to a recorded monument need two months' written notice to the National Monuments Service (National Monuments (Amendment) Act 1994, section 12). ## Architectural heritage (National Inventory of Architectural Heritage) No building of the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage stands in the townland of Mountluke. ## Ground and risks (Radon Risk Map of Ireland, EPA; Landslide Susceptibility Classification and LiDAR, Geological Survey Ireland) - Radon: at the centre of the townland of Mountluke, about 1 in 10 homes in this area is likely to have high radon levels. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner. A price is the price recorded for a past sale, not a valuation.
