In pasture, on a W-facing slope, c. 5m S of a road. A roughly circular area (c. 31m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 5.6m; int. H 0.85m; ext. H 2.6m). The arc of an outer fosse (Wth c. 2.6m; D 0.7m) is visible S-SW. There is a possible entrance (Wth 2m) at NE. A raised oval area (10m E-W; 4m N-S) was noted in the S half of the interior. This rath is said to have derived its name 'Lissanaffrin' 'from Masses being said there in time of war or persecution of Priests' (OSNB, Kilcummin, no. 3, 27). A monument commemorating the celebration of Mass here and a walled-in area occupies the NW quadrant and overlies the NW arc where the bank of the rath has been removed. In pasture, on a SW-facing slope. A roughly circular area (27m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.65m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1.55m) NW-SW, which is best preserved along the S arc. The W arc is truncated by a N-S field boundary. The interior slopes gently down to the SW. Numerous breaches occur in the bank. In pasture, at the top of a low hill. A circular area (54m NW-SE) defined by an inner earthen bank (Wth c. 3.4m; int. H 1.05m; ext. H 3.2m), an intervening fosse and an outer bank. An external berm (Wth 1.9m) occurs outside the inner bank SE-NE. The intervening fosse (Wth 4.3m; D 0.8m) is overgrown with briars. The outer bank (Wth 2.7m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 2m) has a berm (Wth 2.6m) on its inner face. There is a gap (c. 3m) in the inner bank at SE and in the outer bank at ESE, creating a staggered entrance. The E, S and W arcs of the outer bank are disturbed by field boundaries which radiate outwards from the bank. The interior is level and is overgrown with briars. A possible souterrain (KE059-007001-), hut site (KE059-007002-) and children's burial ground (KE059-007003-) occur within it. This rath was described in the 1840s as 'Rahanaan fort', situated in the centre of the townland 'between Darby Hayes's Fort and the Trig. Station' (OSNB, Kilcummin, no. 2, 33). Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. In a rath (KE059-007----). In the 1940s 'a big heap of stones, which mark the entrance to a souterrain' at 'one end' of a central hut (KE059-007002-), was recorded (ITA). Two hollows, the larger containing a stone slab, occur on the W perimeter of the hut site and may form the souterrain entrance. According to local information, the souterrain was infilled as a safety precaution. Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. At the centre of a rath (KE059-007----). The remains of a circular hut (diam. c. 6m) defined by a bank (Wth 1.2m; H 0.4m). Two hollows in the E arc of the bank may mark the entrance to a souterrain (KE059-007001-). In the 1940s the hut was described as a 'Grianaun, about 60ft [18.29m] in circumference, and 15ft [4.57m] in diameter' and 'marked with large stones' (ITA). This hut is indicated on the 1846 OS 6-inch map. Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork.
