Internal diameter 31m E-W This sub-circular enclosure is not marked on the 1841-42 OS map, but it does appear on the 1914-15 edition. Today it is much levelled and is barely perceptible on the landscape. A possible bivallate rath, it is situated in a small rectangular marshy field. The enclosing earthen bank is c 4.9m wide and rises to c .6m high. The outer earthen bank is only visible for a tiny section to the E where it is also c 4.9m wide. Internal diameter could not be taken This univallate rath is marked on the 1841-42 OS map as a complete circular enclosure. On the later map, a road cuts through this site in a NW-SE direction. Today the arc of an earthen bank runs from the NW through W to SW, where it was c 3m wide and rose to .4m above the external ground level and .3m above the interior, has since been completely levelled. In the SW sector of the interior, close to the bank, are the remains of a souterrain. The souterrain (KE016-062001-), which comprises several chambers with a connecting creep, is constructed of drystone walling. The first chamber is sub-circular in plan and rises to a height of 1.5m. The 'beehive' method is used and the capping stone is a large flat slab measuring .8m across. There is a narrow creep, .2m above the floor level, leading from this chamber. It has a maximum width of .5m and height of .4m, and runs for .64m to the second chamber. This chamber is D-shaped in plan and rises to a height of 1.68m. Another creep passage extends out of the SE side and runs roughly ENE for 1.62m, beyond which the passage was collapsed. The passages are all capped with large lintel stones. Internal diameter 41m N-S, 44m E-W This univallate rath is situated on rising land, and a good view is afforded in all directions, especially to the S to E. It consists of an irregularly shaped inner area, which is enclosed by a well-defined bank and exterior fosse. The enclosing earthen bank is on average 5m wide, rising .8m-1.5m externally and .5m-1.2m internally. On the E side it has a steep exterior side which rises to a maximum of 2.2m. The fosse is only visible from the N through E to S where it is 1m wide and .6m below the height of the surrounding land. Two main gaps appear in the bank to the N and S measuring 3m and 6.6m respectively. The interior is at a higher level than the surrounding land. The above description is derived from C.
