This site, bisected roughly NW-SE by a modern road, is located on gently sloping land W of Teermoyle mountain. No surface trace of the E half of the site survives. At W the enclosing bank has an external height of 1.6m and falls 1m to the interior. Composed of earth with a stone core, it averages 1.5m wide. An eroded and ill-defined entrance gap, 2.7m wide, occurs at SW and is flanked on its W side by the 'Gallaun' marked on the second edition of the OS map. This upright slab probably functioned as an entrance portal; it stands .86m high and is .33m wide and .12m thick. A low, stony, grass-grown mound is located in the N quadrant of the rath's interior and may represent debris connected with the construction of the road. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 550. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. This standing stone, irregular in elevation, is situated in land which slopes gently to SW and affords broad, commanding views over the bogs to W. Both of its edges appear to have been spalled or broken. Macalister suggested that it was vandalised in antiquity with the intent of destroying an ogham inscription (1939a, 16). There is no evidence at present to indicate the former existence of such an inscription. The stone stands 2.64m high, and its rectangular basal plan measures 1.66m x .46m; NE-SW. Located in low-lying land on the S bank of the Ferta river, this series of pre-bog walls covers an area which is bisected by the Deelis-Teeromoyle road and measures c. 350m N-S x c. 200m E-W. A 260m long wall, which disappears beneath the peat intermittently, forms the NW side of the complex. To its E and N are further stretches of both curvilinear and angular walls. Most are quite low and collapsed, while others survive as a series of upright slabs. Excavations of drains and trackways through the bog indicate that several of the walls are built on the pre-peat mineral soil, which occurs at an average depth of 1.3m below the bog surface. A possible standing stone (KE070-066002-) occurs 45m W of the complex. Rectangular in elevation, it stands to a maximum height of 1.25m and measures .85m x .1m at base; NE-SW. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner.
