At the NW-foot of an esker. Now a domestic water source, contained in a concrete pump-house. While the representation of the site on the latest ed. (1911) of the OS 6-inch map does suggest a holy well, the site is not named on the 1st ed. (1838) of the OS 6-inch map. Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 10 June 2011 - KD010-020: Cist, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CKD010-020----. According to Raftery (1971, 19-22), in 1971 a burial was discovered near the edge of a sandpit, but was destroyed before it could be examined in situ. The burial consisted of a small rectangular cist with a capstone and a floor of small flagstones, orientated on a NW-SE axis, containing the skeleton of a middle-aged male, with the skull at the NW end, and a Bowl Food Vessel. A second skull, that of a young adult female, was also recovered but it was not certain that it came from the cist. Apparently, over the years, other burials were discovered in the vicinity but were not reported to the relevant authorities. Three houses stand on, or close to, the site of the monument. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner.
