- LE030-034001: Church, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CLE030-034001-. Situated on rock outcrop within the village of Carrigallen. It is depicted as a rectangular N-S structure and described as a church in ruins on the 1907 edition of the OS 6-inch map. This is the site of the medieval parish church of Carrigallen, and it might have continued in use until the present Church of Ireland church was built in 1814 (Lewis 1837, vol. 1, 279) in the same graveyard. The foundations of the E wall (L 7.2m; H 0.8m) are visible under a cairn (dims 15.5m N-S; 5.7m E-W) within the graveyard. Archaeological testing (05E0828) just across the road from the entrance to the graveyard produced no related material (Henry 2008). The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003). Situated on rock outcrop within the village of Carrigallen. The remains of the medieval parish church is in the SW corner of the large graveyard (dims c. 90m NNW-SSE; c. 55m NE-SW) defined by masonry walls attached to the present Church of Ireland church, but any burials that might be associated with the medieval remains are probably in its immediate vicinity. Detached five-bay two-storey former school, built c.1840, on a T-plan with single-storey return. Now disused. Pitched tiled roofs with replacement brick chimneystacks and stone coping. First floor windows in east and west elevations are set into eaves and have stone gablets. Lean-to roof to return. Roughcast rendered walls. Timber casement windows with tooled stone surrounds. Tooled stone doorcase with timber battened door. Random stone wall encloses site. Wrought-iron gate to entrance with ashlar limestone piers and pyramidal caps.

Detached single-cell Board of First Fruits style Church of Ireland church, built in 1814. Three-bay nave with porch to south side and with three-stage tower to west having crenellations and pinnacles. Castellations to porch and to gable ends of nave. Pitched slate roof with ridge tiles. Roughcast rendered walls with tooled stone quoins and string courses to tower. Carved four-centred-arched door opening with block-and-start stone surround, hood moulding and timber battened double door. Flat-arched window openings with cut stone voussoirs, block-and-start surrounds and stone sills with replacement uPVC windows and traceried stained glass windows. Grave markers and ruin of fifteenth-century church to graveyard. Site enclosed by random stone wall with ashlar gate piers and cast-iron gates.

End-of-terrace five-bay two-storey house, built c.1800 and remodelled c.1930, with pubfront, integral carriage arch and return to rear. Pitched tiled roof with rendered chimneystacks. Rendered walls with stucco quoins, ruled and lined to ground floor and pebbledashed with stucco panels and sill course to first. Segmental-headed window openings to facade with stone sills and timber sash windows to first floor and timber fixed and casement windows to ground floor and to gable. Timber panelled door to house. Timber shopfront with fluted pilasters, console brackets and fascia with raised lettering and with timber and glazed door with display window to one side. The building was thatched until 1926. Single-storey outbuildings to rear.

Detached six-bay single-storey former national school, built in 1916, with 1960s extensions. Now in use as a crèche and pre-school. Pitched slate roof with rendered chimneystacks to gable ends. Flat-roofed single-storey extensions to sides. Roughcast rendered walls with date plaque to façade. Timber sash windows to front and timber casement windows to rear. Entrances in north and south extensions. Bicycle shed and water tower to rear of site. Rendered boundary walls with steel gates and stiles.

Gateway to parochial house, built c.1860. Comprises flat-panelled ashlar sandstone piers with decorative pointed caps and cast-iron gates. Sweeping random coursed stone walls terminate at square-profiled piers. Rounded piers to flanking walls with concrete coping. Mill stone and stone stoup inserted into wall.

Detached gable-fronted cruciform Roman Catholic church, built in 1846. Two-bay nave, single-bay transepts and two-bay chancel. Single-storey extension to chancel and south transept. Pitched slate roof with ridge cresting tiles and stone cross finials. Pebbledashed walls with cut stone window and door surrounds. Lancet windows with stained glass. Timber battened door in pointed-arch opening surmounted by stained glass tympanum. Timber pews and organ gallery. Altar to east set within niche. Grave markers and cast-iron bell to graveyard. Site is bounded by rendered wall.

End-of-terrace five-bay two-storey house, built c.1850, with return and shopfront of vacant shop. Pitched slate roof with ridge tiles and rendered and brick chimneystacks.
