Located on the SW-facing slope of a hillock at the N shore of Lough Allen, with a cliff (H c. 10m) immediately to the E down to the lake shore. It is indicated as a large rectangular field (dims c. 70m N-S; c. 45-55m E-W) backing onto the cliff at E on the 1835 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a 'fort'. It is depicted as a rectangular hachured feature (dims c. 45m N-S; c. 30m E-W) on the 1907 edition This is a grass-covered subrectangular area (dims 33m E-W; 28m N-S) defined by a slight scarp (H 0.2m) down to the interior at N, an outer scarp (H 0.7m) at S, a grass-covered earthen bank (Wth 3-3.5m; H 0.2m) at W and the cliff (H c. 10m) down to the lake shore at E. Situated in mixed woodland at the summit of a bulbous peninsula of Corry Point on the N shore of Lough Allen. This may be the site of the 'best wooden house in Ireland, the house of Mac Consava on Lough Allen' burnt by O'Donnell in 1530 (AFM, vol. 5, 1398-1401). Mac Consava was anglicised to Forde in the 17th century. This is a rectangular area (dims 38-40m E-W; 34m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 2m) and an outer fosse (Wth at base 1.5m; D 0.3-0.5m) which is wet, especially at S. There is no visible entrance. The castle (LE018-036002-) is immediately outside the bank at N close to the NW angle, obscuring the fosse here. Situated in mixed woodland at the end of a bulbous peninsula of Corry Point on the N shore of Lough Allen. This was probably a tower house built by McConsava after his wooden house was burnt by O'Donnell in 1530 (AFM, vol. 5, 1399-1401). McConsava was later anglicised to Forde, and the castle is traditionally thought to have been destroyed by Sir Frederick Hamilton c. 1640 (Faughnan 1943, file no. 143). This is a rectangular overgrown structure (dims 12m N-S; 10.45m E-W) defined by a collapsed rubble wall (Wth 1.1m; H 1m) which is built partly over the N moat of the original moated site (LE018-036001-) close to the NW angle. There are traces of an internal division but no architectural features are evident.
