- LE026-015: Enclosure, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CLE026-015----. Situated in a low-lying, level landscape within Newtown Gore village. Depicted as a subcircular or D-shaped enclosure (diam. c. 35m) with what is described as a 'Corn Kiln' at its SW edge on the 1835 edition of the OS 6-inch map, and as a large hachured D-shaped enclosure (ext. dims c. 60m N-S; c. 50m E-W) backing onto a NNE-SSW road at W on the revised 1944 edition of the map, again with a 'Corn Kiln' at its W edge. It may have been a corn-drying kiln in a quarry associated with a corn mill that was c. 100m to the NNE. The location is now occupied by two houses. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003). Situated on a slight rise in a low-lying, level landscape within Newtown Gore village. This is described as an ‘abbey’ (M’Parlan 1802, 103) with no known traditions, or it is possibly the parish church of the defunct parish of Moyagh (OS Name Books, No. 83, 106). It was probably a chapel-of ease to Drumreilly church (LE025-070001-) as it was part of that parish rather than Carrigallen on the Down Survey (1656-8) parish map where the church is depicted. The church is a rectangular structure (ext. dims 12.55m E-W; 8.5m N-S; int. dims 10.85m E-W; 6.9m N-S) with an intact east gable (H 6m) which has a single cusped ogee-headed window under a square hood-moulding. The doorway was towards the W end of the S wall and there is a destroyed window towards its E end. The W and N walls are damaged (H c. 3m) but without features. There is a Church of Ireland church within the rectangular graveyard (dims c. 60m N-S; c. 50m E-W) defined by masonry walls, but this church was built since 1835 and on the 6-inch map of that year ‘Moyagh Church’ is within small oval enclosure (dims c. 35m E-W; c. 25m N-S) defined by broken lines. The graveyard has a few headstones dating from 1733 at the old church to the present. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Detached single-cell Methodist church, built 1893, with three-bay nave. Sold, 1970. Now in use as a parish hall. Gabled entrance porch to west with single-storey former vestry to east. Pitched slate roof with rendered chimneystack to north. Rendered walls. Paired flat-headed lancets with replacement uPVC windows. Triple lancet window to south. Pointed-arched door opening with rendered surround and timber battened door. Site enclosed by random coursed wall and wrought-iron gates, cut stone piers and railings.
- Saint Patrick's Church (Carrigallen), church/chapel, 1840–1860, Regional interest, registry number 30926004, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=LE&regno=30926004. Detached two-cell Church of Ireland church, built c.1850, with four-bay nave,single-bay chancel with gabled entrance porch to south and vestry to north. Pitched tiled roof with carved stone crosses, double bellcote and ornamented corbelled eaves course. Random coursed limestone walls with ashlar buttresses and quoins. Paired lancets with cast-iron lattice windows to nave with decorative quatrefoils and hood mouldings over, tooled limestone chamfered reveals and a continuous sill course. Triple lancet to east gable with decorative dripstops. Pointed-arched door opening to entrance porch with chamfered limestone reveals, timber battened door and flags to porch. Graveyard with grave makers dating from the mid-eighteenth century to present. Ruin of medieval church to north with bellcote and bell. Site enclosed by a random coursed limestone wall and wrought-iron gates.
