Westropp (1904-5, 454) recorded the following details about Ballylanders Church; 'This is named from the ancient family de London, de Londiniis, and de Loundres. Ballylondery and Ballylondry, 1657 (D.S. (A), 54 ; and Petty, 74). Fabric - The gables were broken to level of walls before 1840, but the north walls were intact. It is 50 feet [15.25m] by 20½ feet [6.25m]. The east window and south door had pointed heads cut out of single blocks; the south windows and north door were defaced. The medieval church ruins (LI049-086002-) of Ahatemple stands in centre of graveyard which consists of a rectangular-shaped area (approx. dims. 48m N-S x 37m E-W) enclosed by post-1700 stone wall with entrance gate at S. Ó Danachair (1955, 207) recorded the following details about this holy well; 'Lady's Well on 1840 map. A small well in Ballylanders churchyard; the water from the well flows into a small overflow basin. Now embellished with statues of Our Lady and St Bernadette Soubirous. Still popular: rounds are often made there, especially in May and August. The water cures many ailments. A pattern is held on 15th August, the largest of its kind in the county, with parades, games and dances in addition to the devotions at the well. Formerly rags were hung on the bushes near the well, but this is no longer done. On the pattern day the well is decorated with flowers, &c, and small contributions of money towards this are made to the custodian of the well. In making it was customary to kneel and pray at the well and at three other "stations"; at one of these, in the church ruin, a cross was marked. Legends: A trout is seen in the well by those who are about to have their prayers answered. The water from the well cannot boil. The well was first found when an ailing woman dreamed of a cure there; she came and was cured'. The following folklore was recorded from Ballylanders National School about Lady's Well; 'The graveyard in which the well is is a very old one but is still in use. Trees grow in the churchyard mostly whitethorn - and there is the ruins of an ancient monastery. People are buried within the ruins as there are many headstones there. A bush stands near the well and on that bush coloured pieces of rags were tied after making the rounds. After finishing the rounds to complete them a visit to the old monastery is made and five Our Fathers and five Hail Marys and five Glory's are said' (The Schools’ Collection, Volume 0512, Page 141; accessible online at www.duchas.ie/en/cbes/4922053/4847934/4956043). A second story about Lady's Well was collected from Anglesborough National School; 'The 15th of August is the Pattern Day of Ballylanders Co. Limk. People make the rounds at Our Ladys Well for 8 days before the 15th and many do so on the 15th itself. Its the great day in this part of East Limk. and people look forward to the Pattern for months before. hand. "Are you going the Pattern?" is the usual question in August. Tinkers thimble-rigers, card-sharpers and sweet-cars begin to arrive in the village a week before hand. One old fellow with a shooting gallery always takes up his place at the Church Gate and shouts out "Two shots a penny or five for two pence" (The Schools’ Collection, Volume 0514, Page 123; accessible online at www.duchas.ie/en/cbes/4922062/4848898). In 1840 the Ordnance Survey recorded this monument as one of ‘three ancient forts’ in the townland (OSNB Abbeyfeale to Bruree, 308). Detached three-bay two-storey former rectory, built c. 1860, having pitched roof extension to rear (west). Now in use as a presbytery. Hipped slate roof having overhanging eaves, cast-iron rainwater goods and rendered chimneystacks. Rendered walls. Square-headed openings having replacement uPVC windows and cut limestone sills. Square-headed opening having timber doorcase comprising pilasters and consoles flanking timber panelled door and overlight, approached by cut limestone steps. Multiple-bay two-storey outbuilding with pitched corrugated-iron roof and roughcast rendered walls. Square-headed openings having timber windows and square-headed opening having timber battened door. Entrance to well visible in yard, covered.

Detached double-pile three-bay two-storey house, built c. 1820, with render shopfront to front (west) elevation. Formerly also in use as shop, now disused. Pitched slate roofs with render copings, ridge tiles and cast-iron rainwater goods. Rendered walls with render quoins and plinth. Square-headed openings with replacement windows, moulded render surrounds with keystone details and cut limestone sills. Elliptical-headed opening to ground floor with render surround comprising pilasters, roll moulded arch and keystone. Timber panelled half-glazed door. Shopfront comprising render pilasters with decorative capitals and brackets supporting architrave, fascia and cornice. Square-headed openings with plate glass windows and square-headed central opening with timber battened door.

Freestanding memorial, erected in 1955, comprising carved marble figure statue on square-profile carved limestone tapering pedestal with cross motif and plaques in relief. Square-profile slate base surrounded by metal railings.

Detached single-cell former Church of Ireland church, built in 1861, with square-plan three-stage tower to south and three-bay nave elevations. Nave of church roofless. Cut limestone crenellations and corner pinnacles and cut limestone eaves courses. Cut limestone copings and cross finial to north. Cut and dressed sandstone walls having tooled sandstone quoins and cut limestone stringcourses. Carved limestone plaque to first stage and carved limestone crest to second stage of tower. Paired lancet openings to ground floor of tower, having tooled limestone block-and-start surrounds and sills. Paired round-headed openings to first stage with tooled limestone block-and-start surrounds and circular openings above. Ogee-arched openings to second stage having crossed mullions and tooled limestone block-and-start surrounds. Ogee-arched openings to nave having limestone sills, tooled sandstone Y-tracery and block-and-start surrounds. Pointed arch window to north elevation having tooled limestone block-and-start surround, sill, and elaborate tracery. Pointed arch door opening to south elevation. Retains remains of interior cut limestone staircase. Rendered boundary walls.
