In wet, level pasture with limited views in all directions. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OS 6-inch map as a small roughly circular-shaped earthwork, with barony boundary to W. Monument visited by the ASI in 2001 when it was described as no surface remains visible. Site of levelled monument is obscured by a linear tract of scrub running roughly N-S on Digital Globe aerial photographs taken 2011-2013 and Google Earth orthoimage taken 19/11/2019. See attached Google Earth orthoimage. Compiled by: Alison McQueen and Vera Rahilly Date of upload: 8 July 2020 - LI012-125: Fulacht fia, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CLI012-125----. In lowlying gently undulating pasture, located to the rear of a line of houses. Two fulacht fia were identified by the owner while ploughing, the second fulacht fia (LI012-126----) lies 195m to SE. Recorded as site number 2 by Celie O'Rahilly in 1989 and described as following; ‘This is located nearer to the road, to the west of the Td. boundary, circa half way down. It still constitutes the highest point in the immediate surroundings; the field here is low and presumably water logged. There is a clearly defined mound measuring 11m N-S x 14m E-W, with the same composition of black soil and burnt stones, the blackest area being in the east to south quadrant. There was no evidence of any pit. There appears to be a slightly thicker soil cover in the immediate vicinity of the mound but this thins out beyond the perimeter where the natural clay is exposed’ (SMR File). Site was inspected in 2001 and no surface remains were visible at time of inspection. Not depicted on the OS maps and no trace of the monument is visible on aerial photographs. Compiled by: Fiona Rooney Date of Upload: 23 June 2020 - LI012-126: Fulacht fia, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CLI012-126----. On a slight S-facing slope, in low-lying, gently undulating wet pasture, c. 45m to S of a watercourse. Moderate views from E-S-W and restricted views from W-N-E. Not depicted on OS historic mapping. Identified by the landowner as one of two fulacht fia. The second fulacht fia (LI012-125----) lies 200m to NE. Recorded as site number 1 by Celie O' Rahilly during an inspection for NMS in 1989 and described as a mound (approx. dims. 20m N-S x 16m E-W) of blackened soil and angular-shaped heat-shattered stone exposed during ploughing. The concentration of stones was highest in the centre and thinned out toward the perimeter with the blackest area of high charcoal content being in the E quadrant. A roughly circular-shaped depression (diam. 6m) in the centre probably represents the trough and was unaffected by the plough, whereby most of the sod remained in situ (SMR File). Site was re-inspected by the ASI in 2001 and described as a low profile oval-shaped depression (13.8m N-S; 9.6m E-W) enclosed by a broad bank (int. H. 0.2-0.35m; ext. H 0.25m; overall Wth 6.5-10.8m) of charcoal-rich earth; There is no obvious opening. The interior is generally level and probably represents the trough area (3.2m N-S). Monument is visible as a dark green roughly oval-shaped area of differential growth on Digital Globe orthophotos taken 2011-13 or Google Earth orthoimages taken 19/11/2019. See attached Google Earth orthoimages Compiled by: Alison McQueen and Vera Rahilly Date of upload: 8 July 2020 Works at or in relation to a recorded monument need two months' written notice to the National Monuments Service (National Monuments (Amendment) Act 1994, section 12). ## Architectural heritage (National Inventory of Architectural Heritage) - House, 1790–1810, Regional interest, registry number 21901223, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=LC®no=21901223.
