Old concrete water tank constructed off-centre to NE of interior, otherwise interior generally level and in pasture. Farm sheds and silage pit in use c. 14m to NW. Roughly circular, flat-topped mound (top: 10.4m N-S; 9.5m E-W; overall diam. 27m) defined by steep scarped edge (Wth 10.5m; H 4.9m) which is heavily poached by cattle around base. Erosion has formed a vertical face mid-scarp in places, creating a ledge/stepped scarp (Wth 2m; H 0.45m) above base of scarp (Wth 2m; H 0.75m). H 0.65m) NW-NE, reduced to very low scarp (Wth 12.5m; H 0.28m) NE-ESE and bank resumes again ESE-WNW. Entrance (Wth 4m) at WNW. A watercourse lies 20m to E, which also marks a townland boundary with Rathjordan and a parish boundary between Caherelly and Rathjordan. Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Identified as a roughly circular-shaped cropmark enclosing a low central mound by the Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 14701 & 02: AP 4/3660). The NE arc of the monument is visible on Google Earth orthoimage taken 05/04/2006 and on Digital Globe orthoimage taken 2011-2013, however is not visible on the Google Earth orthoimage taken 26/08/2018. Sub-rectangular area (30m NW-SE; 18m NE-SW) defined by traces of earthen bank (top Wth 2.5m; overall Wth 10.5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.45m; L 14m) forming NW-side. Right-angled return of bank (L 20m) has a gentle curvature and forms SW-side. Slight gap (Wth 1.75m) in curvilinear bank at W. Monument is open (L 10m) to SE. Interior generally level and monument incorporated into field as pasture. Field is liable to floods from stream to E.
