- LI012-009: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CLI012-009----. In rough-pasture, on flat terrain ringed by marshy ground NE->NW. Roughly circular area (19.5m N-S; 20.3m E-W) defined by scarped edge (H 1.05m; Wth 4.1m), best preserved NNE->SE. Interior is covered by overgrowth and its surface is very uneven due to dumping there of rotten timbers and tree stumps. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011

Excavated by Mary Henry (06E1100 ext.) who described it as 'located south of the centre of the field, near the western site boundary, one fulacht measured 22m north–south by 14m wide and 0.35m thick. It comprised a dark-brown/black sandy clay with frequent to abundant fist-sized pieces of sandstone. A number of straight-sided furrows cut through this feature on various alignments, which have had a serious physical impact upon the monument. On a north–south alignment and cutting through the western extent of the fulacht was a modern sewer line. The cut measured 0.3m wide and was filled with chippings protecting a pipe.' Excavated by Mary Henry (06E1100 ext.) who described it a 'located on the western side of the site. This feature mainly comprised a burnt spread measuring 9.1m north–south by 7.5m and a depth of 0.19m. It consisted an irregular spread of black sandy clay with frequent small pieces of burnt sandstone. A sondage was opened in the western part of the feature, where it was cut by a furrow. Semi-detached three-bay two-storey former Royal Irish Constabulary barracks, built c. 1860, having recent extension to rear (south) elevation. Pitched slate roof with brick chimneystacks. Red brick walls with snecked limestone plinth course. Rendered walls to rear and west elevations. Paired round-headed openings to first floor with rounded brick surrounds, one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows and painted stone sills. Paired round-headed openings to ground floor having chamfered brick surrounds, fixed windows, cast-iron sill guards and painted stone sills. Round-headed opening with glazed overlight over double-leaf half-glazed timber panelled doors having chamfered red brick surround.
