Earthwork described in 1943 as following; 'None of this monument now remains. Its site is marked only by a circle of differently coloured vegetation to that of the surroundings. This circle presumably marks the fosse of the monument. From a description supplied by a man who had seen the structure, it seems to have been a platform of Type A. Its overall diameter is 120' [37m]. It is situated in low-land marsh' (O'Kelly 1942-3, 182). The outline of the monument is not visible today on Digital Globe aerial photographs. In wet, low-lying pasture, which is cut by land drains and watercourses, on the floodplain of the Camoge River, which lies 330m to E. A mound (LI023-073009-) and a ring-barrow (LI023-073011-) lie 180m to SW and SSW, respectively and an enclosure (LI023-073016-) lies 190m to S. Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Excavated by Máire MacDermott in 1949 and described as a low circular-shaped mound (diam. 4m) defined by a well-preserved fosse with the remains of a slight outer bank (overall diam. 12m) (MacDermott 1949, 101). Prior to investigation, a depression in the bank at N was thought to indicate an entrance, however on excavation, there was no evidence to support this (ibid). Excavation did prove that the fosse had been excavated to a depth of 0.5m. There was no trace of any burials, pits, post-holes or other signs of activity. Toward the centre of the mound, there was a slight flecking of charcoal containing some charred seeds (ibid). Excavation has dated the mound to the Neolithic period based on a piece of pottery of Windmill Hill type. Other finds include an unfinished chert arrowhead, a flake of greenstone axe and a few pieces of chert and flint debitage (ibid). Remains of monument is visible as a very faint, roughly oval-shaped cropmark on Digital Globe orthophotos taken 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages taken 25/05/2017. The barrow is not depicted on historic OSi maps but is visible on OSi orthoimage taken 2005-12. Identified by Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 202; AP 4/3639) as a circular ring–barrow (ext. diam. c. 38m) defined by a fosse. The N side of the barrow is 3m from an E-W field boundary and the E side of the monument is 7m from a NE-SW field boundary. The site is visible on Google Earth orthoimages taken 05/04/2006 and 28/06/2018. Ivy-covered ruins of post-1700 C of I church stands in the centre of a rectangular shaped graveyard (LI032-072002-). Impossible to inspect building as it is covered in ivy however the E gable wall measuring 0.75m thick suggests a date in the post-1700 period. Blocked up flat-headed doorway in centre of W gable also suggests a post-1700 date for this building. Westropp recorded that a modern church was built on the site of the medieval parish church (Westropp 1904-5, 447). Church described in 1943 as following; 'There are considerable remains of a building on this site, but there is no architectural feature which would indicate the date of the fabric. The oldest tombstone in the surrounding graveyard (which is still in use) is a low slab bearing the date 1717. A charter of John given in 1185 and confirmed by Turlough O'Brien in 1200 granted the church of "Cahercornii" to Monasteranenagh Abbey (LI031-050004-)' (O'Kelly 1942-3, 180). It measures 70' [21m] north-south by 40' [12m], and the platform is barely 1' [0.3m] high. The banks are 2' [0.6m] to 3' [0.9m] high, and the overall diameters of both are 60' [18m]. One of a complex of 12 monuments (LI032-073001-/013-). Listed by O'Kelly as monument No. 6 and described in 1943 as following; 'This is a raised circular platform of earth which has a slight bank around its north edge. It is, therefore, a Type B structure. It is surrounded by a fosse which is continuous and the entrance is not recognisable. The base of the platform seems to be made up of rough small boulders which protrude through the clay. The greatest height of the platform is at the north side, where is it 5' [1.5m] approximately. The overall diameter is 100' [30m]. This is on slightly lower ground than the other monuments described and is on the edge of a very extensive marsh. All these monuments, except Nos. 1 to 5 inclusive, are situated in a low-land marsh. Nos. 1, 2, 3, 10, 11 and 12 are not marked on the OS Maps (O'Kelly 1942-3, 181-2). It is surrounded by a continuous fosse. It is 3' [0.9m] high and 90' [27m] in overall diameter (See Fig. 12). All these monuments, except Nos. 1 to 5 inclusive, are situated in a low-land marsh. It is surrounded by a fosse which is about 1' 6" [0.46m] deep and is well defined. Outside this on the west, north, and east sides is a low bank. The latter is broken at the north-west and north-east corners. It is not possible to say whether this was an original feature or not. The monument measures overall W north-south by 48' [14.6m]. It stands quite close to No. 7 [LI032-073006-]. All these monuments, except Nos. 1 to 5 inclusive, are situated in a low-land marsh. The site is visible on OSi orthoimage taken 2005-12 and on Digital Globe orthoimage taken 2011-2013 as the W edge of a natural ridge that defines the W edge of the floodplain of a small stream that flows N into the Camoge River and defines where the ground rises to the W. Some of the archaeological sites within the complex are located in the stream floodplain in marshy ground as described by O'Kelly (1952/3, 181-2), O’Kelly identifies a further 6 monuments to the W on gently rising ground above the floodplain.
