Ancient road which is one of 12 monuments forming an archaeological complex located in three fields and described by O'Kelly (1944, 17) as following; 'All these monuments are situated in a low-land marsh meadow, the entire complex covering three fields. In one field are 8 of the barrows [LI033-029001-/009-] and the two platforms [LI033-029001-/014-]. The road lies immediately to the west of all these, and the sand-pit is just west of this. The Ancient Road lies in the next field to the N.W. Where a portion of it was exposed during the making of a fence. its surface seemed to be entirely of broken limestone. It runs in a N.E.-S.W. direction beside a double fence and was traceable for the length of three fields. St. Patrick's itinerary through this part of Limerick included Kilteely Hill. The road lies 1½ miles to the S.E. of, and does not run towards, the hill, but local tradition holds that it was used by the Saint. The route travelled by Patrick is given in a map prepared by O Lochlainn but it was not possible to identify the visible track with any part of the mapped route'. Possible burial mound which is one of 12 monuments forming an archaeological complex located in three fields and described by O'Kelly (1944, 17) as following; 'All these monuments are situated in a low-land marsh meadow, the entire complex covering three fields. In one field are 8 of the barrows and the two platforms. In the nearest corner of the next field to the east is the tumulus, and the 9th barrow is in the nearest corner of the next field to the north. The Tumulus is a circular earthen mound with a maximum height of about 6' [1.8m] at the S. side. It has a visible fosse on the E. and S. sides only, a feature which seems to be due to the fact that the field rises away from the monument on these sides. This fosse is very wide and it is likely that all the material for the mound came from it. The overall diam. varies between 60' [18.3m] and 66' [20m].
