An isolated Late Bronze Age cremation burial was discovered in advance of construction on the Limerick Southern Ring road at Clonmacken Roundabout (Taylor and Ruttle 2010). A circular pit (dims. 0.34m L x 0.06m D) was discovered filled with cremated bone (probably human) and charcoal. A struck chert flake and a large piece of quartz crystal were recovered from the burial. The site has been fully excavated. A carbon date was established for the site from carbonised hazel retrieved from the fill (UBA13269), this yielded a calibrated date of between 895-797BC (2 sigma 95.4%).
