Roughly circular area (23.4m N-S; 21.1m E-W) defined by a scarped edge (Wth 3.1m; H 0.4m) from WNW to WSW with the traces of an external fosse (Wth 2.3m; D 0.2m) in the NW. The site has been truncated by the drain to W. The scarp is poorly defined. The interior is very uneven and slopes gently down to SW. Consists of a sub-circular area (22.4m NW-SE; 21.6m NE-SW) defined by a scarped edge (Wth 2.36m; H 0.3m), with an external fosse (Wth 1.4m; D 0.1m) from NE to SW and atNW, and with traces of an external earthen bank (ext. H 0.2m; Wth 1.4m; int. H 0.2m) at SW. There is a gap in the scarp (Wth 7.1m) at NNE. Roughly circular area (35.1m E-W; 33m N-S) enclosed by an earthen bank (int. H 0.2m; Wth 1.6m; ext. H 0.8m) from NW to SE and defined by a scarped edge (Wth 2.8m: H 0.8m) from SE to SW, with an external fosse (Wth 2.2m; D 0.5m) NE to SE. The enclosing element is truncated by a field drain at W. The interior slopes down to the SE. It consists of a sub-oval area (21.5m N-S; 18.9m E-W) defined by a scarped edge (Wth 3m; H 0.4m), with an external fosse (Wth 2.2m) from N to SE, and with traces of an external bank (int. H 0.2m; Wth 1.6m; ext. H 0.2m) from NNE to E. Site of Tobar Bríde situated immediately W of a field boundary, in poorly drained, undulating pasture. The site is sheltered to N, E and S and has good views to W. Described by Ó Danachair (1955, 213) as 'a strong spring issuing from the rock…the water cures vomiting and sick stomach if taken fasting before daybreak'. Ó Danachair mentions a legend still told locally that the well moved to this spot from the location of the Bullaun (LI015-041----) in the same townland.
