Situated on a slight knoll, in low-lying poorly drained pasture, in the valley of the Ballynaclough River, which runs c. 60m S of the site. It is depicted on the 1924 OS 6-inch map as a sub-oval area (diam. c. 35m WNW-ESE; c. 30m N-S) defined by a scarped edge. The entire monument is now covered by dense scrub vegetation. The scarp (Wth 2m; D 0.5m) is evident all round, and is eroded by cattle is places. At NNE the scarp is slightly shallower (Wth 4m), and there is a gap (Wth 0.9m) at NNW. The external fosse (Wth 2.6m; D 0.2m) is partly obscured at NNE by a dump of rubble and some large rocks have recently been dumped into the fosse at SSW. The interior slopes down gently to the S. Situated immediately S of a field boundary on a gentle SE-facing slope in undulating pasture. The monument is a sub-circular area (diam. 27.5m E-W by 20m N-S) defined from NE to S by a steep scarped edge (H 1m) and from S to NW by a gentler scarp (H c. 0.5m). A dip in the scarp at NE (Wth 9m) might be the original entrance. An external fosse (Wth 3m) is evident from NNE to SE. The interior surface is uneven and slopes gently down to the SE. Westropp (1904-5, ) gives the following details about Donaghmore; 'A parish and prebend in Clanwilliam. The "Tripartite Life" says that St. Patrick baptised the men of Thomond at Domnach mor Maige Aine, at Tirglas, in the east of the present County Limerick (V. T. P., p. 307). It appears as Donaghmor and Douenathmor, 1200 and 1201, Dounaghmor, 1302 and 1410, being then a prebend; and Donnachmore cum Ballyag, alias Ardpatric, 1418. It was granted by Bishop Edward to Odo fitz Budci (B. B. L., p. 78). The Prior of Athissel restored it, Mayncrow, and Creuath Omayll to Bishop Hubert, 1239 (Ib., pp. 80-90). Maurice, Bishop of Killaloe, granted it to Bishop Gerald, 1275-99 (Ib., xxxvii.). Richard de Burgo claimed its lands from John Sweyn, 1300 (Plea R. 48 of xxviii Ed. I., m. 29 d.). Canon Robert Chaffe appointed it a prebend on death of Richard Arthur, 1593. It is shown on D. S. (A.) map 9. Fabric - It is an early Celtic church, 26 feet [7.92m] by 39 feet 6 inches [12.03m] outside (O'Donovan), or 20 feet [6.09m] by 33 feet 8 inches [10.26m] inside. East gable is late and blank. The west door is massive, with a large lintel and inclined jambs. Garreglass glebe, in Donaghmore, is shown with a ruined church (D. S. (A.) 9). There are window slits in the south wall'. Described in 1906 as following; 'The old church is about two miles east of the city. According to the Tripartite life of our National Apostle, all the churches that are called Domnach, or the Anglicised form Donagh, were originally founded by St. Patrick, and were so called because he marked out their foundations on a Sunday. This church measures externally 39 feet [11.9m] by 26 feet [7.92m]. The side walls are about 11 feet [3.35m] high. The doorway is in the western gable, and is 6 feet 4 inches [1.93m] in height, its width at base 3 feet 1 inch [0.94m], and at top 2 feet 10 inches [0.86m]. There is also a window in this gable higher than the doorway, but to the right of it, which is considered a very unusual circumstance. It is very narrow from the outside, but splays inwardly. There is another similar to the one in Mungret church in the south wall near the eastern gable. The gables are thickly covered with ivy, and the church itself is in good preservation, retaining all the characteristics of the primitive Irish church' (Begley 1906, 120-1). Situated in a gentle SE-facing slope overlooking rolling pasture. The site is an irregularly shaped area enclosed by a mortared stone wall (H c.1m). The church (LI013-052001-), orientated E-W is located in the N half of the graveyard on an embankment area, oval in plan, and orientated NE by SW. The wall to the N roughly respects the line of the embankment, while the other walls enclose an area greater than that of the embankment. The graveyard is still in use.

Drombanny Castle in the parish of Donaghmore stands in centre of a rectangular-shaped enclosure or bawn (LI013-054-----) on top of a hill with good views in all directions. A second castle also called Drombanny Castle (LI013-056----) stands 825m to S, Donaghmore church (LI013-052001-) 1km to the N. Described in the Ordnance Survey Letters as 'Of the old Castle of Drumbanny which was situated on the top of the hill which gives name to the Townland and about three quarters of a mile southwest of the old Church there are scarcely any traces remaining with the exception of about ten feet [3m] in height of the south wall. The length or breadth could not be determined' (O'Flanagan 1929, 56). Westropp (1906-7, 89) recorded the following details about Drombanny; 'Two C[astle].s marked, one in Donaghmore and one in Caheravally [LI013-056---] to south. 1584 Donnell Mac Canna, the lands (Fi., 4615), and in 1587 the C[astle], which he entailed on his sons (Inq. Cha. Car. I., 90). 1621 H..Holcroft granted the ruined C[astle], late estate of Edm. McCany (Pat. R.). Yet in 1629 livery on Drombanny was granted to Edm. McCanny on death of Donough, his father. (lb.). 1655 Piers Creagh, f. Andrew, held the broken C[astle]. (C.S., xxix., p. 21, D.S.A., 7, 9). 1669 Granted to Duke of York (Act Sett.)'. This castle is depicted on the Down Survey map of South Liberties Barony as a tower house type castle standing in the parish of Donaghmore (Hib. Reg.). On this map the second castle of Drombanny (LI013-056----) is depicted as a house standing in the townland of Brownestone in the parish of Cahernarry. The terrier of the Down Survey map of Donaghmore parish stated that 'There is a ruined castle and an orchard on the Landes Drumbanny' (NLI, MS 718). On this map the castle stood on lands belonging to the alderman, Pierce Creagh who is listed as an 'Irish papist' (ibid.). Brown's Stone (LI013-055----) and a castle also called Drombanny Castle (LI013-053----) lies 530m and 800m to the N respectively. Cahernarry church (LI013-062001-) stands 1.4km to the E. Westropp (1906-7, 89) recorded the following details about Drombanny; 'Two C[astle].s marked, one in Donaghmore [LI013-053----] and one in Caheravally to south. 1584 Donnell Mac Canna, the lands (Fi., 4615), and in 1587 the C[astle], which he entailed on his sons (Inq. Cha. Car. I., 90). 1621 H..Holcroft granted the ruined C[astle], late estate of Edm. McCany (Pat. R.). Yet in 1629 livery on Drombanny was granted to Edm. McCanny on death of Donough, his father. H 1.9m; Wth 2.3m) elsewhere, and with an external fosse all around. There is a break in the bank at N (Wth 3.1m). The interior slopes down gently to the S. Immediately N of R12 roadway and 20m S of the townland boundary with Ballybrennan. A concrete yard and modern buildings now stand on the site of the monument. Annotated 'Lissaniska' on the 1840 OS 6-inch map where it is depicted as a sub-circular shaped area enclosed by a bank, the SW extent of which has been intersected by the public road. The 1897 edition of the OS 25-inch map depicts a raised circular-shaped area (approx. int. diam. 35m, approx. ext. diam. 43m) defined by a scarp. Outline of enclosing element of ringfort with building standing in the centre of the monument visible on 2005 OSi orthophoto. SE section of curving bank of ringfort visible on Google Earth orthophoto taken 26/05/2004. Large concrete yard and modern buildings stand today on the footprint of the monument as shown on Google Earth orthoimage taken 2019. Lissaniska (Lios an Uisce / Fort of Water) was described in the Ordnance Survey Name Books for Cahernarry parish as following; 'This fort is about 2 chains [40m] in diameter, circular, and composed of earth, with a green flat surface. It is about 3 feet [0.9m] high. It is situated in a low plain and is no, therefore, in view of any other forts' (OSNB Cahernarry Parish, 332). Situated on the SE-facing slope of a large hill, in rolling pasture on uneven ground. The monument is obscured by dense scrub vegetation. It is depicted on the 1924 OS 6-inch map as a circular area enclosed by a bank (diam. c. 25m) on 3 quadrants and by a field wall on the E quadrant. It survives as a sub circular area (15m WNW-ESE; 18m N-S) defined to N, E and S by a scarped edge, and not defined at all to W. The scarp (Wth. 2.6m; H 1.1m) has been eroded by cattle and is shallowest to ESE (Wth. 3m). The interior surface is uneven and masked by nettle growth. It slopes slightly down to E. There is a low mound of grass-covered stones (4.8m N-S; 3.8m E-W; H 0.8m) in the E quadrant of the interior, at the edge of the scarp. This appears to be a recent deposition. On a S-facing slope in rolling pasture, immediately NW of a farm track. The monument, depicted on the OS 1840 map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m), has been levelled but is still evident as a sub-oval area (c. 19.8m WNW-ESE) defined by a scarped edge (Wth 2.2m; H 0.2m) in the W, S and SE. An earthen bank (Wth 1.75m; H 0.1 -0.2m) runs NE-SW c. 4.5m W of the site; this may be the remains of an old field boundary. There is a steeper natural break in slope c. 5m E of the site. The field boundary has since been levelled. Survives as a roughly rectangular (30m NE-SW; 23m SE-NW) area enclosed by a bank (int. H 0.5m; Wth. 1.1m; int. H 0.8m) a fosse (Wth. 3.6m) and an external bank (int. H 0.85m; Wth. 1.7m; ext. H 0.1m). Only the portions of the banks and fosse from NW to SE and from S to W are visible, under heavy vegetation, with a denuded portion of the external bank visible from SE to S.

Described by Greensmyth (1994, 13) as following; ‘The Drombanna pigeon house is octagonal. The circumference on the outside is just under 25m. The length from of any of the walls on the inside to the opposite wall is under 5m. Seven of the walls have nest holes for eighty birds each, the eight wall, which includes the entrance facing west, has holes for forty birds’. Freestanding former pasteurisation machine house, dated 1912. Hipped artificial slate roof with overhanging eaves, replacement terracotta ridge crestings and wind vane, flat-roofed projection to front (east) elevation. Render dentilated cornice to flat-roofed projection. Rendered walls. Recent carved limestone date plaque to front elevation. Square-headed window opening wrapping around from north, westward to south elevation having aluminium frame and clear plastic glazing. Elliptical-headed door opening to front elevation having mounded render hoodmoulding. Aluminium framed door and door surround with clear plastic glazing. Square-headed door opening to north elevation with timber battened door.
- Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, church/chapel, 1822, Regional interest, registry number 21901339, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=LC&regno=21901339. Freestanding cruciform-plan Roman Catholic church, built in 1822, comprising two-bay nave elevations with single-bay transepts and two-bay sacristy addition and single-bay porch extension to north. Pitched replacement slate roof with render eaves course, kneelers to eaves course at gables. Openwork bellcote with semi-circular arch opening with cast-iron cross mounted over. Rendered walls with render plinth course and platband to west elevation. Painted brick walls with render plinth course to porch extension. Pointed arch window openings, some with peck-dressed limestone surrounds and painted stone sills. Stained glass windows throughout. Square-headed window openings and pointed arch window openings to sacristy with uPVC windows and concrete sills. Pointed arch window opening with render sills and stained glass window to porch. Elliptical-headed door opening with peck-dressed limestone block-and-start surround having rendered overlight and replacement door. Rectangular holy-water font recess with D-shaped plan tooled limestone holy water font. Square-headed door opening to sacristy with aluminium and glass door. Recent interior features such as timber altar, stations of the cross and bench pews to interior. Tooled limestone chest tomb and free-standing crucifix statuary to west. Commemorative plaque to east. Coursed limestone rubble low boundary wall to site, terminating in square-profile piers with recent aluminium gates and traffic barriers.

A townland is the smallest land division of Ireland, and the unit of a rural address; old registers such as the 1901 and 1911 censuses file it under its civil parish and barony.
