On a WNW-facing slope, in rough pasture, 130m NE of a townland boundary with Knocknacrohy. A possible hut site (LI024-299----) is visible within the S quadrant and a complex of five barrows (LI024-041/243/246/342/341----) are within a 65m radius to S, SW and W. Depicted as a suboval-shaped earthwork defined by a watercourse to N on the 1897 ed. OS 25-inch map. Monument surveyed by the ASI in 2008 and described as a circular-shaped area (diam. 22m) defined by remains of a bank (Wth 7.15m; int. H 0.45m; ext. H 1.8m) from E-S-W-WNW which is reduced to a scarp (Wth 1.1m; H 3m) from WNW-N-E. A fosse (Wth 6.75m; D 0.2m) is visible from S-W-WNW and appears to have been re-cut by a stream from WNW-N-E. A subrectangular-shaped area defined by linear banks (L 28m at W; 12m at S; 13m at E; open to N) abuts the exterior of the fosse at W, with the bank (Wth 4.6m; int. H 0.2; ext. H 0.2m) on its E-side possibly being shared with the outer bank of the ringfort from SW-WNW. Monument is visible as a suboval-shaped earthwork on OSi orthoimage taken 2005-2012, on Digital Globe orthoimage taken 2011-201, and on Google Earth orthoimage taken 18/11/2018. On a NW-facing slope, in rough, wet pasture, 100m NE of a townland boundary with Knocknacrohy. Within a complex of five barrows (LI024-041/243/246/342/341----). Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Identified as a small, circular-shaped cropmark by the Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 68: AP 4/3681). Monument surveyed by the ASI in 2008 and described as a low profile circular-shaped area (4.2m N-S; 4m E-W) defined by a scarp (Wth 0.6-0.75m; H 0.05-0.08m) and a fosse (Wth 2.2-2.55m; D 0.02-0.2m). An outer bank (Wth 2.95-3.55m; int. H 0.02-0.2m; ext. H 0.05-0.4m) is truncated from N-NE by a linear earthen bank running (L 28m) NW-SE. The interior is generally level. A poorly drained, sunken area abutting the exterior at SW is choked with rushes and appears to contain a spring which drains to W. The remains of a bank running WNW-ESE are situated to SW. Monument is visible as a subcircular-shaped cropmark on OSi orthoimage taken 2005-2012, on Digital Globe orthoimage taken 2011-201, and on Google Earth orthoimage taken 18/11/2018. See attached aerial photo labelled Bruff 68 and sketch profile drawn by the ASI in 2008 and Google Earth orthoimage taken 18/11/2018. Extending from top of hill in townland of Glen and continuing on an E-facing slope into Pallashill townland, in rough and undulating upland pasture. Enclosures (LI024-044002/003/004-, LI024-280/281---- and hut sites LI024-303/304/305----) are located within. Depicted as a series of ten fields on the revised 1897 ed. OS 25-inch map. Field system identified on oblique aerial photographs taken 10/07/1967 (CUCAP AYO036). Monument surveyed by the ASI in 2008 and described as an irregular-shaped area (approx. 24ha) containing approx. ten rectangular, subrectangular and irregular-shaped fields which are defined by field boundaries (Wth 4.65m; int. H 0.35m; ext. H 0.6m). These are sod covered earth and stone walls which have evidence of collapse in places. An area of lazy beds (Wth 1.5m; H 0.15m) are visible across the E-side of the field system and in the S area. A trigonometric point is situated on the W-side. Monument is visible as a series of linear earthworks intersecting at right angles and forming a field pattern on OSi orthoimage taken 2005-2012, on ASIAP (309, 28, 30), on Digital Globe orthoimage taken 2011-201, and on Google Earth orthoimage taken 25/03/2017. In undulating upland pasture, on a steep NE-facing slope. Within field system (LI024-044001-) and 115m NE of hut site (LI024-305----). Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Enclosure identified on oblique aerial photographs taken 10/07/1967 (CUCAP AYO036). Described by O'Dwyer (1959, 78) as following; 'This appears to have been a small circular ring-fort of about 50' [15m] in diameter. It is now very much denuded, the bank practically levelled and a ditch is not visible'. Monument surveyed by the ASI in 2008 and described as no surface remains visible. A natural shelf of ground is visible across this area. The townland boundary with Pallashill kinks to respect a depression due NNE of the possible monument. Levelled monument is not visible on OSi orthoimage taken 2005-2012, on ASIAP (309, 28, 30), on Digital Globe orthoimage taken 2011-2013 and on Google Earth orthoimage taken 28/06/2018. In undulating and rough upland pasture. Within field system (LI024-044001-). Not depicted on OSI historic maps. Identified as a small, oval-shaped cropmark, in the corner of a field, by the Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 76: AP 4/3681). Monument surveyed by the ASI in 2008 and described as a D-shaped area (overall dims. 9.5m NE-SW; 9.3m NW-SE) defined by a bank (Wth 2.3-2.6m; int. H 0.2-0.8m; ext. H 0.2-0.35m). A break in the bank at NE appears to have been an entrance. A fosse (Wth 1.6m; D 0.2m) is present from SE-S-SW. The interior is bisected by a bank (Wth 2.3m; H 0.2m at SE; H 0.35m) running NE-SW which leaves an oval-shaped area (4.9m NE-SW; 2m NW-SE) on the downslope to NW and an oval-shaped area (6m NE-SW; 2.2m NW-SE) on the upslope to SE. A gap (Wth 0.65m) allowing access between both is situated in the SW-end of the dividing bank. The remains of an old field boundary abut the monument to NE and a second similar boundary is approx. 2m to NW. Monument is visible as a roughly D-shaped earthwork (15m NE-SW; 14m NW-SE) on OSi orthoimage taken 2005-2012, on ASIAP (309, 28, 30), on Digital Globe orthoimage taken 2011-2013 and on Google Earth orthoimage taken 18/11/2018. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner. A price is the price recorded for a past sale, not a valuation.
