In gently undulating pasture with good views in all directions. Located 230m E of the townland boundary with Garranroe and 530m WNW of Killonahan Church (LI021-067001-) and Graveyard (LI021-067002-). A ringfort (LI021-063----) lies 400m to the S. The site is depicted as a circular fort lined with trees on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map. Shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a scarped oval enclosure (ext. diam. 45m N-S; 54m E-W) at the junction of three fields. Inspected by the ASI in 2000 and described as an ovoid-shaped area (int. diam. 39.5m N-S; 42m E-W) enclosed by a stone wall (Wth 3.55m; int. H 2.05m; ext. H 2.1m) with possible entrance (Wth 6m) at WSW that appears to have been widened for farm access. The interior is level, dry and clear of overgrowth. The cashel wall has partially collapsed on the N, E, S and NW side, but survives with an internal and external face in sections, it is heavily overgrown and tree roots penetrate the wall core around its circuit. In elevated pasture on a slight E-facing slope with good views in all directions. Located at the southern tip of Killonahan 150m N of the townland boundary with Rathbranagh, 90m E of the townland boundary with Garranroe and 100m W of the townland boundary with Ballylusky. The ringfort (LI021-060----) lies 150m to the W. The site is depicted as a circular fort on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map. Shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. 40m), a trigonometrical station is located on the NE ringfort bank indicating that the monument occupies a local high spot. Inspected by the ASI in 2000 and described raised circular-shaped area (int. diam. 30m) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (Wth 4.6m; int. H 0.35m; ext. H 0.7m) and an external fosse (Wth 4.7m; int. D 0.7m; ext. D 0.3m) with an entrance gap (Wth 2m) at SSW. The interior was level, dry and overgrown. A later field boundary (orientated NE-SW) runs along the NW side of the fosse. Geffry de Mareys did homage to Bishop Hubert for Killonethon, c. 1223 ; Killonwyn, 1302 ; Kyllonchan, 1418; Killanahan, 1615b; Killonahama, Killonaghinmore, and Killeonahanna, 1657 (D.S.(B.), 21, 25; Civil Survey, pp. 14, 15; Petty, 69), Cilanacam, from St. Onchu, Feb. 8th (O'Donovan); the church was destroyed in 1641. Site - Part of the north wall, 9 feet [2.7m] long and high, of coarse field stones, stood in 1840; near it was the dry well of St. Senan (O.S.L. 14, E. 8, p. 39)' (Westropp 1904-5, 380). Graveyard boundary depicted as a circular shaped feature, probably an earthen bank on the 1840 ed. OS 6-inch map. Site of St. Senan's Well (LI021-068----) lies 250m to E. The Ordnance Survey described the graveyard in 1840 as following; 'There is an extensive graveyard which looks old and is not much in use. Elder, whitethorn and ash trees are growing in it. The locality of this church is high ground' (OSL vol. 2, 391). The Ordnance Survey described the church and graveyard in 1840 as following; 'The name of this parish is pronounced Cill Unucain (Oncon) which signifies the Church of Saint Onchu. The Life of S.
