In level pasture with reasonable views in all directions. The townland boundary with Gortyvahane lies 200m to W, enclosure (LI025-021----) 280m to W. Depicted as a circular-shaped earthwork (ext. dims. 32m N-S; 33m E-W) on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map and on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map. The monument is visible as a roughly circular-shaped area of scrub woodland on the OSi orthoimage taken 2005-12 and on the Digital Globe orthoimages taken 2011-2013. Inspected by ASI in 1999 and described as a circular raised area (int. diam. c. 30m) defined by a scarped edge surrounded by a possible external fosse. The interior was densely overgrown, wet and level. The circumference of the site as defined by the scarped edge has no apparent entrance. The sloping edges of the monument were 2.4m wide falling 1.1m from the internal ground level within the monument to the external field surface. The field boundary located on the S side of the site respects the curving edge of the enclosure in that location and is 2m wide, possibly reflecting the line of the external fosse. The enclosure is visible on the latest Google Earth orthoimage as scrub woodland within pasture taken 18/11/2018. See attached sketch plan surveyed and drawn by the ASI and Google Earth orthoimage Compiled by: Edmond O’Donovan Date of upload: 21 September 2020 - LI025-026: Earthwork, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CLI025-026----. In undulating pasture with restricted views in all directions, 70m N of the townland boundary with Oolahills East. Ringfort (TS058-001----) located 310m to SE. The site is depicted as an oval-shaped earthwork (ext. dims. 28m N-S; 33m E-W) on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map and on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map. The monument is visible as an earthwork in pasture on the OSi orthoimage taken 2005-12 and on the Digital Globe orthoimages taken 2011-2013. Inspected by the ASI in 1999 and described as a slightly raised oval shaped area. The enclosure is visible on a Google Earth orthoimage taken 11/03/2014 when a recent farm drainage channel was excavated along the N edge of the site along the field boundary. The monument is faintly visible on the latest Google Earth orthoimage taken 18/11/2018. See attached Google Earth orthoimages Compiled by: Edmond O’Donovan Date of upload: 22 September 2020 - LI025-027: Barrow - ring-barrow, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CLI025-027----. In pasture on slight E-facing slope, with good views to the N and S, and restricted views in other directions. Located 80m SE of the townland boundary with Longford East and a ringfort (LI025-024----) lies 390m to SW. The site (ext. dims. 66m N-S; 56m E-W) is depicted as a small oval enclosure on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map and as a flat topped mound surrounded by two fosses on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map . Monument visible as a roughly circular area with trees covering the monument on the OSi orthoimage taken 2005-12 and on Digital Globe orthoimages taken 2011-2013. Inspected by the ASI in 1999 and described as densely overgrown monument with restricted access. The site consists of a raised circular-shaped area (int. diam. c. 20m), defined by a deep fosse (Wth 12.6m; int. H 2.6m; ext. H 0.4m) and external bank (Wth 5.4m; D 0.4m). The interior appears level and dry. The NE and SE side is partially truncated by two field boundaries that cut across both the fosse and external bank. No entrance is present. The ring-barrow is visible on the latest Google Earth orthoimages taken 18/11/2018. The Google Earth image illustrates the levelled outer margin of the site to the SE and S. The linear earthworks visible on the S edge of the site are also likely to be the levelled remains of the external bank of the monument in that location.
