In pasture, on N-facing slope. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1924 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. According to local information levelled c. 1975 when surrounding field boundaries were removed. Slight rise in field may be remnant of enclosure. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011 - LI030-103: Church, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CLI030-103----. In pasture, on N-facing slope. Only ivy-clad SW corner of church survives; according to Molony (1905, 261) the rest fell in 1839 and 'most of the fallen portions were removed for building'. Molony (ibid.) observed 'foundations that appear to indicate that the church was 67 feet in external length, and that it was contained in an enclosure of 115 feet by 60 feet'; these features are no longer evident. The surviving S wall (int. L 6.2m) has a rough opening near the SW corner which was a doorway judging by draw-bar socket on E side; just E of this is small wall press which Molony (ibid.) thought was 'for a stoup'. That part of W gable (int. L 2.7m) which survives stands to full height; it now breaks off where part of window ingoing survives. According to Ordnance Survey Name Books associated with St Patrick. No evident trace of burials in vicinity of ruin. In pasture, atop low hill. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 35m) on 1924 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled except for scarped edge (H 1.55m; Wth 8m) defining arc of circular area SW->NNE (diam. 34m SW-NNE). At NNE scarp truncated by recently constructed farm track (axis N-S). Immediately S of SW end of scarp is area of rock outcrop covered by gorse. Interior, in pasture, slopes down gently to N. Outline of circular-shaped area (approx. int. diam. 30m; ext. diam. 55m) enclosed by a low bank, ditch and external bank visible on Digital Globe orthophoto taken 2011-13. Outline of possible bivallate ringfort clearly visible on Google Earth orthoimages taken 25/03/2017 and 28/06/2018. The 2018 orthophoto shows clearly the presence of an internal ditch and possibly three enclosing banks which may suggest a prehistoric barrow or henge type monument rather than that of a ringfort. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner. A price is the price recorded for a past sale, not a valuation.
