According to local information (pers. comm. Barry O'Reilly) at this location a 'cavity c. 0.3m deep' was uncovered 'with evidence of roofing of thin stone slabs running in under sod and each side of cavity.' Situated in flat tilled land, c. 3m W of a disused trackway and c. 5m SE of a field boundary that runs along a road, there was no evident trace of this feature when inspected in 2004. Westropp (1904-5, 367) gives the following details on St. Dominic's medieval church; 'Fearannyguilleach, 1410. Ffarenygall belonged to the Convent of Killone, County Clare, and was granted to Lord Inchiquin. The Earl of Thomond held it, March 18, 1615 (Inquisition), Farrennegallagh, 1657 (D.S.A. 10). Fabric - The church of St. Dominick, completely hidden in ivy; most of the walls are now levelled'. In 1906 the following was recorded about St. Dominic's Church; 'Farran na Guillagh. Now Rossbrien, near the city, of which no traces remain except the burial ground where it formerly stood. Near it is St. Domnic's Well [LI013-018----)' (Begley 1906, 254). Situated in flat meadow, c. 150m N of St. Dominick's Well (LI013-018----). The site is heavily masked by dense scrub vegetation. Indicated on the 1924 OS 6-inch map as a sub-rectangular area (c. 50-60m ENE-WSW by 20m NW-SE), accessed by a track leading for 30m to the graveyard from a by-road to the NW. The graveyard is now unused. The monuments largely date from the 19th century and many of the graves have been disturbed by vegetation growth. It is enclosed by a dilapidated mortared stone wall and much of the interior is masked by mature and fallen deciduous trees. The ruins of St Dominick's Church (LI013-017001-) are in the NE of the graveyard.

Situated immediately NE of an overgrown trackway, in flat meadowland. The monument is heavily masked by dense scrub vegetation. A rectangular area (L 19m N-S by Wth 7.8m E-W) is enclosed by a dilapidated field wall. The ground is raised (D 0.3m) with rubble and cut by a recent channel, except to the SW where a smaller rectangular area (c. 3m N-S by 2.5m E-W) with an entrance (Wth 0.9m) to the N, is enclosed by partly collapsed mortared stone walls. Ó Danachair (1955, 214) describes it as 'a small well, about four feet deep, with steps leading down'. It was associated with a cure for eye ailments (ibid.). Situated atop a low hill in rolling pasture and meadow. The monument is indicated on the 1924 OS 6-inch map as a sub-oval platform (diam. c. 30m NE-SW by 20m NW-SE) defined by a scarped edge from NNE to SSW. Situated on a gentle SE-facing slope in rolling, well-drained pasture, overlooking the new N20 to the E. The monument is partially obscured by scrub vegetation. Sub-oval concentration of stones (4.5m E-W; 3.2m N-S; H 0.4 - 0.8m) in a gentle sub oval depression (c. 9.1m NE-SW; 7.8m NW-SE; D 0.1m). A concentration of smaller stones (c. 0.2 x 0.3 x 0.2m) forms a base with three larger rocks (c. 0.4 x 0.4 x 0.7) roughly placed on top, interspersed with smaller stones. The stones are sub-angular limestone blocks with the larger rocks being heavily fissured. Some marks on them may have been made by the toothed bucket of an excavator. They are partially covered with a recent growth of ivy, and to the S the site is becoming obscured by brambles. The hawthorns which ring the concentration of stones are mature. There are some rounded field stones scattered in the depression. The concentration is covered with a layer of hay to the E. Probably a clearance cairn, associated with land reclamation.
- LI013-168: Fulacht fia, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CLI013-168----. Identified during archaeological monitoring associated with the N20/N21 Limerick Bypass road scheme. Excavated under licence no. 99E0524 by Catherine McLoughlin (McLoughlin 1999), the results were summarised as following; ‘Monitoring of topsoil-stripping along the line of the N20/N21 Limerick Bypass uncovered a spread of burnt stone within a charcoal-rich soil, in low-lying, boggy ground. Burnt stone was mixed through the topsoil, which contained numerous finds of modern pottery, glass, metal objects, animal bone and shell. Three stone beads were also recovered from the topsoil. The excavated material was a series of deposits primarily made up of burnt stone and charcoal-rich soil, measuring 30m north-south by 17m, with a depth of no more than 0.3m. One subsoil-cut feature lay to the south-west of the main spread of material, but as this was sealed under a thin layer of peat it was not related to the burnt spread. The burnt spread itself lay on top of this thin layer of peat. Limestone bedrock protruded through the whole area, and no other features were present’ (www.excavations.ie; McLoughlin 2000, 180). Fulacht Fia listed as Site A and excavated prior to the construction of the N20/21 Adare to Annacotty road scheme. Archaeological material initially identified during monitoring of topsoil. Excavations in 1999 by Mary Deevy carried out under Licence No. 99E0235 revealed two fulachta fia (LI013-169002-) 15m apart, both of which ‘had very shallow 'mounds' consisting of circular spreads of charcoal-rich soil with heat-shattered limestone and sandstone.’ The results of the excavation of Site A were summarised as following; ‘In Site A the burnt spread measured c. 10m in diameter and 0.1m in depth. A large, subrectangular trough was found beneath the spread on the western side of the site. The trough measured 2.5m by 1.9m and 0.55m in maximum depth. It was filled with burnt mound material. Evidence for a wooden structure in the trough was recovered in the form of three small stake-holes in the base of the trough. The western side of the site was badly disturbed by water action from the flooding river and by tree root action.’ (www.excavations.ie 1999:533; Deevy 1999, 2000). Excavations in 1999 by Mary Deevy carried out under Licence No. 99E0235 revealed two fulachta fia (LI013-169001-) 15m apart and the results were summarised as following; ‘In Site B the charcoal spread was much smaller, 5.5m in maximum diameter and 0.1m deep. A subrectangular trough was found immediately adjacent to the spread, again on its western, i.e. river, side. The trough measured 2.2m by 2.1m and 0.5m in maximum depth. It was mainly filled with burnt mound material. Inside the trough at its eastern end a rectangular slab of limestone stood upright on the base of the trough, while there was a row of stake-holes along the southern side and in a cluster beside the slab on the northern side of the trough. The natural subsoil on which these sites were found was very stony. However, it was clear that the large amount of natural stones had been augmented and consolidated on the western side of Site B to form a fairly flat stone surface between it and the river. Site B was truncated by two linear ditches running perpendicular to each other, which were probably field drains. Identified during archaeological monitoring associated with the Limerick Main Drainage Southern Interceptor Scheme. Excavated under licence no. 00E0204 by Paul Stevens (Stevens 2000), the results were summarised as following; ‘The site was revealed as a small oval deposit of fire-cracked sandstone and charcoal-rich silt within a small ovoid hollow, in white and yellow glacial marl. The deposit measured 4.2m in length (south-east/north-west) by 1.8m and 0.15m in maximum depth, 2.659–2.542m OD. Excavation revealed no definitive cut, and the hollow had an irregular profile. No other archaeological features were identified in the surrounding area, although the marshy flood-plain terrain is characteristic of the siting of fulachta fiadh’ (www.excavations.ie; Stevens 2002, 201). Identified as Site 12 by Damien Finn during archaeological monitoring (License 98E0506) associated with the N20/N21 Limerick Bypass (Finn 1999). The site is located on marshy ground 35m E of the Ballynaclough River. Archaeological monitoring of topsoil stripping ‘revealed a low mound of burnt stones and charcoal. The mound had a maximum height of 0.5m and a maximum diameter of 10m N-S and 12m E-W’ (Finn 1999, 90). Following consultation with Dúchas it was decided that the area could be covered in a geotextile material, sand and earth, as it lay in an outside the main construction works and so would not be affected by the development (www.excavations.ie 1999; Finn 2000, 155-6).
