The interior is level and a disused earth and stone field boundary runs NNW-SSE across the W sector. Depicted on the OS 25-inch map as a raised roughly oval-shaped area (approx. dims. 40m N-S x 27m E-W) defined by a scarp with fosse and external bank, field boundaries radiate out from SW, NW and NE. Levelled monument visited by the ASI in 1999 and described as no surface remains visible. According to local information, this monument was removed in the 1980s, although it had been known locally as a ‘fort’ (SMR File). On the summit of a hill, with slight SSW-facing slope, overlooking the Cahernahallia River valley to SE. Ringfort (LI016-018----) lies 105m to SE. On the demesne lands of Toomaline House located 365m to S. Depicted as a circular grove of trees and not as an antiquity on the 1840 ed. OS 6-inch map. Depicted on the OS 25-inch map as a circular-shaped enclosure, with field boundaries radiating from NNW, NE, SE and WSW. Monument surveyed by the ASI in 1999 and described as a circular-shaped area (diam. 51m) defined by an earthen bank (int. H 1.1m; ext. H 1.2m; Wth 3.8m). There are numerous small cattle breaks in the bank, although there is no obvious entrance. The bank resembles a field boundary rather than being an original feature. The interior has a SSW-facing slope, is very slightly dome-shaped and has been planted with regular rows of coniferous trees. Monument visible as a circular-shaped tree-planted area on ASI aerial photos (ASIAP 354, 17) taken 2003, on Digital Globe orthophotos taken 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages taken 20/01/2020. Possibly the site of a tree-ring or a ringfort that has been modified and reused as a tree-ring in the post-1700 period. On slight S-facing slope, overlooking the Cahernahallia River valley to E with excellent views from E-S-W, overlooked by higher ground from W-N-E. Tree-ring (LI016-017----) lies 105m to NW. Depicted on the OS 25-inch map as a roughly circular-shaped enclosure, with a trackway approx. 5m to E. Monument surveyed by the ASI in 1999 and described as a slightly raised circular-shaped area (32m N-S; 30m E-W) defined by an earthen bank reduced to a scarp. The bank (int. H 0.6m; ext. H 0.4m; Wth 4.7m) is visible from NW-N-NE and the scarp (Wth 2m; H 0.6m) from NE-E-S-W-NW. The interior is level, having been cut into the upslope at N and raised on the S side to compensate for hillslope. A short portion of the scarp (Wth 4m) is low and eroded at SSE, indicating a possible entrance. Square-headed openings to first floor with eight-over-eight pane timber sliding sash windows and twelve-over-eight pane timber sliding sash window to ground floor. All having limestone sills. Round-headed opening with spoked fanlight over double-leaf timber panelled doors. Three-bay single-storey outbuilding to north having pitched corrugated-iron roof. Rubble limestone walls. Square-headed door openings. Three-bay single-storey outbuilding to north-west having single-pitched corrugated-iron roof with metal vents. Random rubble limestone walls. Square-headed door openings, now partially blocked up.
