Within the SE quadrant of an ecclesiastical enclosure (LF013-034001-). A report in 1975 (SMR file) noted that a series of low banks of earth and stone, rectangular in plan and orientated on an E-W axis, possibly marked the site of a church. A smaller square structure, defined by an earthen bank, extended to the N from it. A low earthen bank running to the E off the NE corner of this structure was possibly a subdividing bank associated with the ecclesiastical enclosure. None of these features are visible at ground level. A cross-inscribed pillar (LF013-034003-) is associated. On a NE-facing slope in pasture. Described in 1975 (SMR file) as a slightly raised oval platform (c. 64m E-W; c. 52m N-S) defined by a low bank of earth and stone. The original entrance may have been at NE. A possible church (LF013-034----) was evident in the SE quadrant of the interior as well as a cross-inscribed pillar (LF013-034003-) and an internal subdividing bank. The enclosure is defined by a scarp (H 0.25-0.8m). No visible surface trace of the internal bank survives. Compiled by: Patrick F. Formerly located within the SE quadrant of an ecclesiastical enclosure (LF013-034001-), this cross-inscribed pillar is now in St Mel’s College (see LF013-034003-) in Longford town (LF013-026----). It comprises a large, rectangular, limestone pillar (H 2.45m; Wth 0.35m; T 0.25m) on which a simple Latin cross is carved in relief. In the angles of the arms of the cross, the stone has been cut away to give a ringed effect. The stem is decorated with a transverse groove. Compiled by: Patrick F.
