On a SSW-facing slope in pasture. A raised oval area (44.8m NW-SE; 35.6m NE-SW) enclosed by four very wide low banks of earth and stone and four fosses. Only the innermost bank (Wth 6.8m; H 0.35m max.) and fosse (Wth 4.2m; D 0.45m) are identifiable all round. The other banks and fosses have been levelled to a greater or lesser extent due to the construction of modern NW-SE and NE-SW field boundaries and land reclamation. The second bank (Wth 10.3m; H 0.9m) is visible from ESE-W-NNE. The second fosse (Wth 5.9m; D 0.4m) survives from SSW-N-NNE. The third bank (Wth 8.4m; H 0.45m) is evident from WSW-W-NNW. Although levelled, its outline may also be traced from SW-WSW. The third fosse (Wth 3.9m; D 0.35m) also survives from WSW-W-NNW. The outermost bank (Wth 6.1m; H 0.3m) is visible from WNW-NW-NNW. Again although levelled, its outline may also be traced from W-WNW. The outermost fosse (Wth 2.6m; D 0.15m) has been infilled. However, its outline is still traceable from WNW-NW-NNW. A well-defined break (Wth 3.2m) in the innermost bank, with an accompanying causeway across the innermost fosse at ESE, marks the original entrance. Centrally located within the interior is a rectangular house site (LF011-041002-). Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 26 August 2011 - LF011-041002: House - indeterminate date, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CLF011-041002-. Centrally located within the interior of a rath (LF011-041001-). This rectangular house site (10.2m NW-SE; 9.3m NE-SW) is enclosed by a low but well-defined bank of earth and stone (Wth 1.9m; H 0.25m). There is an entrance gap (Wth 1.55m) at SE. In reclaimed, low-lying pasture adjacent to a stream. Depicted as a circular enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. A report in 1975 (SMR file) recorded that the rath had been largely levelled due to the construction of a modern NE-SW field boundary. Extant remains at that date comprised two low banks of earth and stone with a wide, deep, intervening fosse extending in an arc from ENE-S-SSW. Elsewhere only the outline was identifiable. The enclosed area was c. 36m in diameter. The rath has subsequently been completelly levelled and it is not visible at ground level. Compiled by: Patrick F. In pasture, on a SW-facing slope c. 15m to the NE of a stream. Described by O’Donovan in 1837 as a a 'well of great sanctity probably of Pagan origin' (OSL, 6). Farrell (1891, 266) recorded that this was 'the sacred well of Tober-reendonny’, or ‘the Well of the King of Sunday'. In 1944 it was noted that although it was 'still regarded as a holy well in the locality … it has few visitors nowadays' (ITA Survey). It has since been filled in. Compiled by: Patrick F.
