On a low rise in pasture. Named 'Moat & Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Described in 1975 (SMR file) as the remains of a motte with a bailey to its E. The motte was encircled by a fosse with an external bank. The bailey was enclosed by a low earthen bank with a shallow external fosse. There was an entrance to the bailey at E. The monument has since been levelled and is not visible at ground level. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 26 March 2012 - LF015-032: Designed landscape - tree-ring, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CLF015-032----. On a prominent rise in pasture, within the demesne of 'Lissard House'. Not indicated on the OS 6-inch map (1837). Represented as a sub-circular raised area on the OS 25-inch plan (1911). This has been levelled and there are no remains visible at ground level. It is very likely that this was a designed landscape feature. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 26 August 2011 - LF015-033: Castle - unclassified, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CLF015-033----. On a low rise c. 40m to the NNE of 'Lissard House'. Described by Coad (1832, 288) as the ‘ivy covered ruin of an old castle, which was the ancient residence’. Depicted on the 1837 edition of the OS 6-inch map as a square building with the designation 'Ruins' in the typeface used by the OS to indicate antiquities. There are no remains now visible at ground level and the precise nature and date of this structure are unknown. 'Lissard House' was levelled in the 1950s. Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 5 November 2012 - LF015-034: Designed landscape feature, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CLF015-034----. Indicated as a square tree-covered enclosure on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. It is not recorded on the OS 25-inch plan (1911) though its four corners are marked by individual trees. It consists of a raised rectangular area (dims. c.26m N-S; c.19m E-W) enclosed by two low earthen banks with shallow intermediate fosse. Original entrance not recognisable. The internal ground level rises from the perimeter to form a low mound at the centre. It is similar to another square enclosure (LF015-039----) c. 100m to the SE and the remains probably are a landscape feautre within the demesne of Lissard House. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 26 August 2011 - LF015-035: Designed landscape - tree-ring, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CLF015-035----. Indicated as a subcircular tree-covered enclosure on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, it is represented as an embanked enclosure on the OS 25-inch plan (1911). It was levelled in the late 1960s (SMR file) and the visible remains comprise a subcircular enclosure (40m NNW-SSE; 30m WSW-ENE) defined by a very low bank and fosse. This is likely to be a landscape feature associated with Lissard House. Compiled by: Paul Walsh Date of upload: 26 August 2011 - LF015-039: Designed landscape - tree-ring, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CLF015-039----. Raised subrectangular area (c. 23m NNW-SSE; c. 19m ENE-WSW) enclosed by two low earthen banks with shallow intermediate fosse. The fosse and outer bank are much denuded due to cattle trampling. No entrance is recognisable. It is similar to another square enclosure (LF015-034----) - now levelled - c. 100m to the NW and the remains probably are a landscape feautre within the demesne of Lissard House. Compiled by: Paul Walsh Date of upload: 26 August 2011 - LF015-040: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CLF015-040----. In a forestry plantation on a low natural elevation. Marked as a roughly circular enclosure, planted with trees, with the designation ‘Fort’ on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. This possible rath has been partly levelled. It is visible as a roughly oval raised area (c. 20-25m N–S; c. 17-20m E–W) defined by a low broadly sloping scarp (H c. 1.2m) that is easiest to trace from E–SE–S where it merges with a natural fall of ground, giving an overall drop in height at E of c. 2m. From SW–W–NW it (H c. 0.5m) is lower and less well defined. At N it is difficult to determine the exact limits of the monument as it and its immediate surroundings are planted with beech and Scots pine, representing an older phase of planting, and these trees are surrounded by a more recent, densely planted coniferous plantation with birch trees on the margins. There is no clearly defined break of slope between the flat interior and the scarp.
