Large blocks of fine-grained rock, tending to split into layers at a slant (H 3.2m, 1.8m by 0.9m in section), orientated NNW-SSE. N, S and E faces of stone are even, but W side is rutted and weathered. The site is now levelled, but a survey by O. Davies (OPW file 1942) records a wedge-shaped mound (L 22.8m; Wth 6.4m at W, 4.9m at E; H 1.5m at W, 1m at E) composed of clay and stones. Davies suggested that the site might be a settlement, but the OS (OS Memoranda 5675 A, B) record that it was locally known as a 'Giant's Grave', which would suggest it may have been a megalithic tomb. - LH017-036: Ogham stone, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CLH017-036----. Situated just W of the summit of a high E-W ridge. This is a large block-like boulder (max. dims. H 2.1m, 1.2m by 0.9m in section) orientated NW-SE. The lower corners of the stone have been worn smooth by cattle scratching. The remains of an ogham inscription, probably added to the existing standing stone early in the first millennium AD, can be seen on the upper part of the E corner. This inscription, as read from the base up, has been transliterated as 'BRANOGENI' by Macalister (CLAJ 1915, 385-6; 1945, 44, no. 39).
