In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Originally a divided nave and chancel, with now only the former remaining above ground level. The nave is built of uncoursed large limestone blocks, boulders and greywacke (int. dims. 11.2m by 5.75m). It has the remains of two doorways, two windows and a chancel arch. The standing remains are very overgrown with ivy and alder trees. There is no dressed stone remaining in the windows, doorways or chancel arch. The rounded arches of the opposing doorways are constructed of small greywacke slabs while their inner portions have large slab lintels. Opposing windows at the E end of the nave are constructed with greywacke and have slab lintels. The chancel arch is semi-circular and is constructed of small greywacke slabs with a central keystone. When Davies recorded the site (CLAJ 1944, 292) the remains of the chancel walls were visible and were constructed of large boulders. The outline of its walls can now only be discerned in the grass-covered foundations to the E of the nave. It was shorter and narrower than the nave, being only c. 6m by c. 4.5m internally. This church is very similar in its construction to that at Clonmore (LH018-019001-), and is almost certainly of fifteenth- or sixteenth-century date. Situated on a fairly level landscape. The cropmark ditches of a fairly regular field system covering about 30 acres (c. 12ha) are visible on the OSI series of aerial photographs (1995). They form fairly large fields (dims c. 100m x c. 50m) and are defined by single ditch features. Some of the ditches run nearly parallel with existing field banks, and the fields are probably 18th century in date. The possible barrows (LH019-014001-; LH019-014002-) (Buckley 1987) are within the area but are not visible. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner. A price is the price recorded for a past sale, not a valuation.
