Situated on a wide high ridge and consisting of a high flat-topped mound (diam. at base c. 34m; at summit 16.2m, H 6-9m) with remains of a wide fosse (Wth 6.3m, D 0.9m) now almost filled in but still discernible all the way round. There are very slight remains of a possible bailey (max. L c. 40m, Wth c. 30m, H c. 0.9m) to the ESE of the mound defined by scarping. The remains of a low drystone wall (Wth c. 0.6m, H c. 0.3m) surrounds the summit of the mound. Site may be part of original graveyard or possibly part of landscape gardening. Complex of church site in Churchtown townland (LH013-028----), earthworks in this townland and in Tullakeel townland (LH013-023----), 'the Mill Park', 'Mill Hill' and 'Mill Race' in Stormanstown townland may form part of medieval village.

Aerial photographs (GB91.DC.03, 12 and 13) show an extensive sequence of earthworks delineating a deserted settlement, probably of medieval date, comprising: a) three hollow-ways; (i) a hollow-way extending north-west to south-east and centred at 291211, 294036 (ii) a complex system of hollow-ways in the middle of the earthwork complex and centred at 291282, 294084; a broad central hollow-way bifurcates at both ends to form four separate hollow-ways. (iii) a hollow-way extending along the southern edge of the earthwork sequence and centred at 291280, 294000 b) a series of rectilinear plots extending in a north-easterly direction from the southern hollow-way, probably representing the individual crofts of the medieval village; and c) an earthen bank extending west to east, providing the southern limit of the settlement, centred at 291348, 294019 The earthworks are located between St. Medoc's church (LH013 -028001 in Churchtown townland), and the motte and bailey castle at Stormanstown (LH013 -024001), both of which would have formed part of the contemporary medieval landscape. - Stormanstown National School, school, 1860–1870, Regional interest, registry number 13901405, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=LH&regno=13901405. Detached three-bay single-storey stone former school, dated 1865, now derelict. T-plan, projecting gable-fronted entrance bay to south. Hipped slate roof, clay ridge tiles, stone verge coping to gables, red brick and smooth rendered corbelled chimneystacks. Squared-rubble stone walling, dressed limestone plinth and quoins. Square-headed window openings, red brick block-and-start surrounds, limestone sills, no windows remaining. Square-headed door opening, red brick block-and-start surround, painted timber vertically-sheeted door, limestone threshold, concrete steps, entrance flanked by window openings and surmounted by tooled limestone plaque "STORMANSTOWN NATIONAL SCHOOL 1865". School set back from road, gravelled are to south-east, roughcast-rendered wall bounds site to south.
