In average coastal pasture, located on a low ridge, just to SE of the summit, overlooking Lackan Bay. Nephin Mountain is prominent on the horizon to SSW, Knocknarae in Sligo is visible to ENE, and the mountains of Donegal define the far horizon to NE. Indicated as ‘Standing Stone’ on the 1838 and 1922 OS 6-inch maps, it consists of an upright, narrow, pillar-like stone (H 1.75m; Wth 0.23m; T 0.1m), with a flat top. The long axis is aligned roughly N-S. It stands at the E end of a low, grass-covered, stony rise (3.4m E-W; 1.6m N-S; H 0.5m). Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 13 November 2018

In average coastal pasture, located on a low elevation overlooking Killala Bay to E, and with good views over rolling fields to S and W. Slightly raised circular area (17.4m N-S; 16.6m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.7m at NNE; 4.4m at SW; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.6m at NNE, 1.4m at SW). The bank is generally low and degraded, with stones protruding randomly on top along the W half. It is broadly slumped at SW. Where sections of the bank have been eroded by farm stock, its core is revealed to be composed of hard-packed stony sandy soil. There is no clearly defined entrance feature. The interior appears to be slightly higher in the W third, but is generally level and featureless. Remnants of levelled field fences can be seen abutting the bank at S and NE. A N−S road lies 3m W of the rath. There is a possible rath (MA015-074----) c. 200m to SW. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 13 November 2018

In pasture, straddling the edge of an E-W terrace on a S-facing slope; good views S−W over a wide expanse of coastal pasture. Slightly raised, roughly oval area (20m N-S; 24.5m E-W) defined by a degraded earthen bank. The bank (Wth 2.5-2.8m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.8m) is quite well defined on the S half, and is built up on the external slope to compensate for the natural fall of ground. At NW−NE the bank (Wth c. 3m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 0.2m) is cut into rising ground and survives as an inward-facing scarp with a very slight external lip. There are two opposing breaks (Wth 3m) in the bank at E and W, which now provide tractor access to the interior. The break at the E may be the site of the original entrance. There are also a number of small eroded breaks around the circuit of the bank. The interior appears to have been built up on the S half to create a level area. Field clearance stone is piled on the bank in parts. Another rath (MA015-007----) is visible c. 340m to SE. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 13 November 2018

In average pasture, located on a SE-facing slope with very good views to SE−SW over an expanse of lowlying coastal pasture, and over Killala Bay to E. Indicated on the 1922 OS 6-inch map as a circular hachured area marked ‘Pound’, this rath consists of a slightly raised circular area (27.3m N-S; 28m E-W) defined by a stony earthen bank. At N the bank is almost flush with external ground level but has a pronounced internal scarp (H 0.8m). At S it survives as a pronounced external scarp (H 1. 45m) with a low internal lip (H 0.1m). This discrepancy results from the build up of the S half of the site to compensate for the natural slope. Elsewhere the bank has a uniform rounded, well-defined profile (Wth 2m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 0.5m). In the level interior there are two sod-covered field clearance heaps, one in W half (L 8.3m N-S; Wth 2.5m; H 0.6m) and one in the E half (L 5.5m N-S; W 2.2m; H 0.5m). A third low irregular-shaped heap (max. dim. 2m; H 0.2m) lies close to the bank at N. In S half of the interior is a shallow irregular-shaped depression (c. 4m N-S; 2m E-W; D 0.2m).
