In undulating pasture, located on a hillock. A flat expanse of boggy pasture, which lies to N, is shown on the 1837-8 OS 6-inch map as a small lake, named ‘Colemans Lough’. This enclosure is shown on the 1837-8 OS map as a circular, ringfort-like enclosure (diam. c. 40m), and on the 1922 edition as a penannular, hachured area (diam. c. 35-40m) open to NE. At the location there is gently domed knoll or hillock (c. 35m E-W; c. 30m N-S; H c. 2m to SW; 3m to NE), roughly oval in plan, with a flattish top and broadly sloping sides. The sides slope quite steeply, and are scarped (H 0.9m) at their base at S-W. It has the appearance of a natural hillock; it may have been modified in the past to form an enclosure, however, no clearly defined enclosing element is now evident. The flattish top (diam. c. 13.5m) is traversed by a discrete length of bank (L 9m NNW-SSE) incorporating a single large boulder, which according to local tradition, was used as mass rock (MA031-008001-). There is a possible souterrain (MA031-073----) c. 130m to SW, and a possible rath (MA031-007----) c. 220m to W. Compiled by: Jane O'Shaughnessy Date of upload: 13 June 2018

On top of a hillock, within a possible enclosure (MA031-008----). A discrete length of bank (9m NNW-SSE; Wth 2.7m; H 0.5), composed of earth and small stones, extends across the flattish top (diam. c. 13.5m) of the hillock. The bank incorporates a single, irregular-shaped boulder, which according to local tradition, was used as an altar at which mass was said during the Penal Era. Located in flat pasture, merging at W with an expanse of rough, heather-covered peaty ground. This enclosure is not shown on the 1837-8 and the 1922 OS 6-inch maps. It consists of a slightly raised, sub-circular area (31m E-W; c. 25m N-S) defined at SW by a remnant of bank (L c. 10m; Wth 3m; int. H 0.45m; ext. H 0.65m) and elsewhere by a low scarp (H 0.35-0.4m), outside which there is a broad, shallow fosse (Wth 4.5m; D 0.2m), which can be traced at NW−E. Outside the fosse at NE there is a slight, flat-topped rise (Wth c. 4m), distinguished by different vegetation growth, which may be the remnants of an external bank. The interior is level, but has a rough, uneven surface. There are causeway-like features across the fosse at E (Wth 2m) and at WSW (Wth 4m), but it is unclear if either represents an original entrance. The outline of the enclosure is indistinct on the S arc, and at SW it merges with heather-covered bog. A rough E−W farm track lies a few meters to S.
