In pasture, located on a low rise in sharply undulating terrain, with good but not extensive views. Located close to the SW boundary of the townland. This rath is indicated as a circular embanked enclosure on the 1838 OS 6-inch map. It has been truncated by a field fence on the NW side, and is evident now as a raised, roughly D-shaped area or platform (18.5m NE−SW; c. 14m NW−SE) defined on the curving side by a scarp, and on the straight side at NW by a field fence. The scarp is low, with a slight, sod-covered internal stony lip (Wth c. 2m), more prominent at NE, and a broad external slump (ext. H 1.1m at NE, 1.3m at SW; 0.5m at SE.). In a thicket of hazel and blackthorn, in the base of a steep-sided stream gully (Wth 6-8m; D c. 2m), on level ground c. 3m S of the W-flowing stream. The well, named ‘Toberbreanal’ on the 1838 and 1922 OS 6-inch maps, consists of a rectangular pit (1.1m NE−SW; 1.4m NW−SE; D 1m) with vertical, stone-faced sides, now largely moss-covered. There is an opening in the wall at the NW end, where two shallow steps lead down to the water. There is a penitential cairn (MA040-032001-) immediately to NE. In an area of rough, stony heather-covered pasture, now largely converted to forestry, in the foothills of the Ox Mountains. There is rising ground to S−SE, and to N−NW ground falls for c. 75m into a small stream valley; the townland boundary coincides with the course of the stream. Roughly circular area (diam. 25-30m) defined by a low sod-covered stone bank/wall (Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.55m; ext. H 1m). Low heather-covered field walls (Wth c. 1m; H 0.4-0.5m) radiate from the enclosure at SW and NE. Interior obscured by a dense growth of ferns.
