In pasture, located on the S end of a roughly N–S rise in gently undulating terrain, with good views. This rath consists of a circular area (c. 20m N–S), not noticeably raised, defined by an earthen bank. Dense overgrowth impeded the inspection. The bank appears most substantial (Wth over 3m; int. H 1.2m; ext. H 0.8m) on the N half; at SE it is rather low and degraded internally, but has a more pronounced external slope (ext. H 1.3m). The bank includes, and is topped by stones, which may be the result of its incorporation into a later system of field boundaries. A field fence abuts the bank at W, and another field fence lies immediately adjacent at N–NE. A possible gap (Wth c. 1.5-2m), largely obscured by overgrowth, at E may be the original entrance. Located on a rise in undulating average pasture. This enclosure is not shown on the 1837 OS 6-inch map; it is depicted on the 1930 edition as a circular embanked area (diam. 15-20m). According to local information, it was levelled during land reclamation in the first half of the 20th century. There are no visible remains at ground level. ## Architectural heritage (National Inventory of Architectural Heritage)

- Glen Lodge, farm house, 1840–1870, Regional interest, registry number 31303026, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=MA&regno=31303026. Detached five-bay two-storey "double-fronted" farmhouse, extant 1870, on an L-shaped plan with four-bay two-storey side (south) elevation. Occupied, 1911. Sold, 1930. Pitched slate roof on an L-shaped plan with clay ridge tiles, yellow brick Rattrap bond chimney stacks on chamfered bases having red brick corbelled stepped stringcourses below capping supporting terracotta or yellow terracotta pots, and cast-iron rainwater goods on slightly overhanging eaves having timber consoles retaining cast-iron octagonal or ogee hoppers and downpipes. Rendered, ruled and lined walls; fine roughcast surface finish (east) over coursed rubble limestone construction. Square-headed central door opening with concealed dressings framing glazed timber panelled door having overlight. Square-headed window openings with dragged cut-limestone sills, and concealed red brick block-and-start surrounds framing one-over-one timber sash windows. Set in landscaped grounds with rendered octagonal piers to perimeter having capping supporting looped wrought iron double gates.
