Located on a slight rise, in an expanse of flat, sandy coastal pasture on the S side of Lackan Bay. Overlooked to S by a low ridge that merges at NE with sand dunes. The stone stands at the junction of two field banks, one oriented ENE−WSW, the other NNW−SSE. A tall, straight-sided, pillar-like stone (H 3.3m; 0.46m NE-SW; 0.32m NW-SE), which tapers gently at the top to a roughly triangular peak. It leans slightly to SE. According to one tradition recorded in the 1838 OS Letters, St. Patrick erected this stone, but another tradition held that it was erected to commemorate a victory of the Irish over the Danes who fled to sea from this location (O'Flanagan 1927, 196 (102)). Located in a flat expanse of rough, lowlying pasture, bordering the shoreline of Lackan Bay. Ground rises gradually to S and SE. Named ‘Tobernacreeva’ on the 1838 and 1922 OS 6-inch maps, this spring fed pool (1.45m NE-SW; 1.38m NW-SE; D 0.3m) is confined within a stone-built well-house of recent date, which stands within a small concrete-walled enclosure. According to a tradition recorded in the OS Letters (1838), this holy well was associated with St Patrick, and it was here that he baptised King Amhalgaidh, with his sons and 900 followers. (O’Flanagan 1927, 196 (102)). There is a standing stone (MA015-001----) 290m to W, a rath (MA015-003001-) with a children’s burial ground (MA015-003002-) 200m to SE, and a cairn (MA015-068001-) and a souterrain (MA015-068002-) 190m to SW. Located on a gentle N-facing slope, overlooking Lacken Bay. The slope gives way at its base to an expanse of flat, damp pasture, merging with sand dunes to NE. Slightly raised oval area (19m NE-SW; 12.4m NW-SE) enclosed by a stony bank (Wth 2.8m; int. H 0.1m at NE, 0.65m at SE; ext. H 1.4m at NE, 0.6m at SE). The bank is best preserved on the S half. On the N half the external scarp is built up to compensate of the natural slope, but retains only a low internal lip. There is a low area (Wth 2m) in the bank at NE, but no clearly defined entrance feature. The interior, which slopes slightly down to NW, has an uneven, stony surface. It was used as a children’s burial ground (MA015-003002-), and a number of low, upright stones protruding from the ground may mark graves. Field clearance stones and boulders are heaped along the bank, especially at NW-N. In a rath (MA015-003001-). According to the OS Letters, this was ‘a burying place for unbaptised children, called Lishín –Lisheen.’ (O'Flanagan 1927, 196). It is named ‘Lisheen Grave Yard’ on the 1838 OS 6-inch map, and ‘Lisheen (Children’s Burial Gd.) on the 1922 edition. In the centre of the rath interior, there is a single upright, uninscribed slab (H 0.7m; W 0.6m NW-SE; T 0.06m) and to NE of this, a number of smaller stones which barely protruding above the surface. In level pasture, adjacent to a stream/drain. There is a farmstead to S and W. This holy well is named ‘Toberara’ on the 1838 and 1922 OS 6-inch maps, and is recorded in the OS Letters (1838, 196 (102)) as ‘Tober a Righ’. The well, now dried up, is enclosed by a concrete wall. Located on a slight elevation in coastal pasture, overlooking Lackan Bay. This cairn is not indicated on the 1838 and 1922 OS 6-inch maps. It consists of a grass-grown, roughly D-shaped mound (11.5m N-S; 5.7m E-W; H 0.9m), bordered on the straight side at E by a N−S field fence. Disturbance of the mound, particularly along its NW−N edge, reveals that it is composed of a concentration of small to medium-sized stones. Two hollows suggest areas of infilled subsidence. Two irregular-shaped heaps of earth and stone on the SW edge of the mound appeared to have been dumped there relatively recently. The cairn is sited on top of a low rise (c. 13m E-W; c. 24m N-S).
