In pasture, located on a rise in gently undulating terrain, with excellent views in all directions. This possible rath is shown on the 1838 and 1930 OS 6-inch maps as a circular ringfort-like enclosure. It has been levelled; it is evident as a slightly raised subcircular area (c. 34m N–S; c. 31.5m E–W) defined on its perimeter by a broad low rise/scarp, which represents a levelled bank. It is most clearly defined on the S half, where the bank/scarp (Wth slope c. 7m; ext H 1.4m at S) is enhanced by the natural fall of ground. A rath (MA039-012----) is located 125m to S, and there is a megalithic structure (MA039-131----) 100m to SE. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 4 September 2019 - MA039-012: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CMA039-012----. In pasture, located on the gentle E-facing slope of a low rise, with good views. Slightly raised circular area (31m E–W; 32m N–S) defined on the E half by a substantial earthen bank (Wth 5.7m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.1m), which is reduced on the W half to a scarp (ext. H 0.7m) with a slightly raised internal rim. Small stones protrude from the inner face of the bank at NE–E. The hachuring depicted on the 1930 OS 6-inch map indicates an external fosse. The fosse is not now evident, but when the rath was inspected in 1996 a band of soft earth (Wth 2m at E; 8m at W) was noted encircling the rath, suggesting that the fosse had been recently infilled. In the interior, slightly W of centre, an irregular N–S stony scarp marks a difference in height of c. 1m between the W and E parts of the interior. The lower E half has a level surface, strewn with stones. An E–W row of stones, barely protruding from the surface, extends from the bank at W to the central N–S dividing scarp, marking out an internal division in W half of the interior. A gap (Wth 2m), now blocked with boulders, in the bank at E may mark the location of the entrance. Another gap (Wth 1.4m) at NW is similarly blocked. The perimeter is ringed with ash and hawthorn, with holly, ash and brambles in the interior. Heaps of field clearance boulders are piled along the line of the bank at S. A possible rath (MA039-011----) is located 120m to N, and there is a rath (MA039-013----) 230m to E. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 13 September 2019 - MA039-013: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CMA039-013----. In pasture, prominently sited on a rise, with a gradual fall of ground to W, and a steeper fall to E. The location provides good views, especially eastwards over lowlying, damp pastures. Slightly raised broadly oval area (33.2m N–S; 37-38m E-W) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth c. 5m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1.4m at S, at least 2m at E) with an external fosse (Wth 4m; D 0.7m at S). The fosse is most clearly defined at SW–NW, where its outer edge is bordered by a later field fence; elsewhere around the circuit it is evident as a very shallow depression. There are narrow, eroded breaks in the bank at S (Wth 0.7m), NNW, and NE (Wth 1.4m). A broader gap (Wth 3m) at SE may indicate the original entrance. Two boulders are located in the interior immediately adjacent to the N side of this gap, and another very large boulder is located against the inner face of the bank at W. The interior has a very slight slope down from centre to SE. The rath is ringed with blackthorn and brambles. There is a rath (MA039-012----) c. 230m to W, and a possible rath (MA039-011----) c. 290m to NW. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 13 September 2019 - MA039-014: Enclosure, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CMA039-014----. In pasture, located on a low N–S ridge, close to the break of slope on the E side, with extensive views over gently undulating grassland. This monument is depicted on the 1838 and 1930 OS 6-inch maps as a circular enclosure. It has been levelled. A slight circular undulation (diam. c. 18-20m) can still be discerned. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 13 September 2019 - MA039-036: Enclosure, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CMA039-036----. In pasture, located a low rise. This enclosure is shown on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as a circular ringfort-like embanked enclosure, and on the 1930 edition as a raised circular enclosure (diam. 23m). It has been levelled; there is no visible trace at ground level. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 4 February 2020 - MA039-131: Megalithic structure, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CMA039-131----. In pasture, located on a slight rise. A large split boulder (L; 2.8m N−S; Wth 1.6m; T 0.8m), roughly D-shaped in profile, rests with its flat side downwards on three smaller stones. Two of the support stones lie parallel at N (L 1.2m N−S; Wth c. 0.5m; H 0.75m) and S (L 1.45m N−S; Wth 0.9m; H 0.3-0.5m), and the third, much smaller support stone ( L c. 0.6m; H 0.25m) is at E. The unequal height of the support stones gives the large boulder a pronounced tilt downwards to S and E. In the space beneath, there is a low earthen rise, topped with small stones. A number of loose, large stones, probably field clearance, lie close to the structure. This arrangement of stones, rather haphazard in appearance, is of uncertain antiquity. It was assessed by the Megalithic Survey of Ireland as an 'artifical megalithic structure -remains insufficient to classify it as a meglaithic tomb.' There is a rath (MA039-011----) c. 100m to NW and another (MA039-012----) c. 100m to SW.
