Adjacent to a holy well (MA103-003002). There is no visible trace of a church indicated on the 1916 OS 6-inch maps as ‘St. Patrick’s Church (Site of)’. In pasture, in a slight hollow enclosed at W and N by gently rising ground. A natural spring well gathering in a small pool (max. dim. c. 2m; D 0.2m), with an outflow stream flowing to SE where it is channelled into a modern field drain. The head of the spring at the N edge of the pool is now enclosed by a concrete pipe. Curving around the N side of the spring is a low stony rise set in the top of which is a small stone cross (MA103-003003-). An ash tree stands at the W end of the rise, on the NW side of the spring. Named ‘St. Patrick’s Well’ on the 1838 and 1916 OS 6-inch maps, a pattern or prayer cycle was traditionally held here each year on the first Sunday in August. ‘St. Patrick’s Church (Site of)’ (MA103-003001-) is indicated immediately to W of the well on the 1916 OS 6-inch map, but no remains are now visible. Located at a holy well (MA103-003001-) known as St. Patrick’s Well. This stone cross stands upright on a low stony rise that curves around the N side of the well. The cross (H 0.64m; Wth across arms 0.29m) is rather crudely shaped with short stubby arms that protrude no more than a few centimeters from the shaft (Wth 0.19m; T 0.12m). - Holywell House, farm house, 1700–1786, Regional interest, registry number 31310301, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=MA&regno=31310301. Detached three-bay two-storey over part raised basement farmhouse, extant 1786[?], on a symmetrical plan. Occupied, 1911. Undergoing "restoration", 2005. Now disused. Replacement pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, cut-limestone coping to gables with rendered chimney stacks to apexes having cut-limestone shallow stringcourses below capping supporting remains of terracotta or yellow terracotta pots, and no rainwater goods surviving on cut-limestone eaves. Lime rendered or roughcast walls over snecked limestone construction with concealed cut-limestone flush quoins to corners. Segmental-headed central door opening approached by flight of overgrown cut-limestone steps with drag edged dragged cut-limestone surround centred on keystone framing timber panelled door. Square-headed window openings with drag edged dragged cut-limestone sills, and concealed cut-limestone voussoirs framing six-over-six timber sash windows. Interior including (ground floor): central entrance hall retaining carved timber surrounds to door openings framing timber panelled doors; and carved timber surrounds to door openings to remainder framing timber panelled doors with timber panelled shutters to window openings. Set in unkempt grounds.
