Located in the W half of a graveyard (MA026-003002-), in lowlying ground on the N bank of the Owenmore River, close to a bend in the river. There are expanses of bog to N and S. This ruined rectangular medieval parish church (13.95m NE-SW; 6.1m NW-SE; Wall T 0.9m) is constructed of mortared stone rubble. It is oriented NE−SW, but for simplicity, is described here as if conforming to the standard E−W orientation. The E gable is intact, and the N and S walls are upstanding, but damaged at their W end; the W gable has collapsed. The E gable has a single-light, round-headed window with a round-headed rear arch. At the E end of the S wall there is a plain, flat-headed single-light window, and at the W end of the S wall there is a round-headed doorway, with slightly pointed segmental arch; most of the dressed stone surround of the doorway is missing, but two portions of chamfered jambs are 'in situ'. There is a considerable build up in ground level within the church and in the immediate vicinity. A bullaun stone (MA026-003003-) lies against the external face of the E gable, at its S end. Located in lowlying ground on the N bank of the Owenmore River, close to a bend in the river. There are expanses of bog to N and S. This graveyard is depicted on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as a square area (c. 25m E−W; c. 25m N−S), with the church (MA026-003001-) abutting the W boundary, located c. 50m E of the river bank. By the time of the 1921 edition the graveyard had been expanded to its current roughly trapezoidal extent (c. 60m NNE−SSW; c. 45m WNW−ESE at E end, c. 70m at W end), with the W boundary coinciding with the riverbank. The graveyard is enclosed by a mortared stone wall, with a wrought-iron gate at the NE corner. In the interior ground level rises markedly from the perimeter towards the centre. Several early 20th-century headstones of Celtic type area visible, but many the majority of gravemarkers are engulfed in dense vegetation. There graveyard encloses a medieval parish church (MA026-003001-) and a bullaun stone (MA026-003004-). Lewis (1837, 67) records that ‘At Kiltairn on the banks of the Owenmore, are the remains of an ancient abbey, and also of the old parish church.’ No trace of the abbey is now evident. Located in a graveyard (MA026-003002-), at the SE corner of a church (MA026-003001-). The bullaun stone consists of a roughly triangular-shaped slab, 1.9m in length, and 0.2m in thickness. It is 1.35m wide at its broadest end but narrows to 0.3m at the other end. On the upper surface, off centre towards the broader end of the slab, is a shallow circular depression (diam. 0.35m; D 0.13m). The upper sides of the depression are rather rough and natural in appearance.
