In pasture, on a low knoll, with very good views W−NW overlooking the Pollagh River, which is c. 60m to W. Ground falls away steeply into the river valley, and more gradually to SW. Oval area (28-30m E−W; c. 40m N−S) which encompasses a low knoll. A roughly E−W field fence crosses the S half of the rath. To S of the fence, the rath survives as a substantially raised semicircular platform defined by a high steeply-sloping scarp (H 3.1m; Wth slope 4-4.5m). The scarp drops to a flat gap/terrace (Wth c. 3m), probably the remains of a fosse, on the outer edge of which is a narrow earthen bank (Wth 1.5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1m). To N of the field fence, the N two thirds of the rath has been levelled, but the outline can still be traced, conforming to the contours of the knoll. The original entrance may have been at NE−E where the fall of ground is gentler. The S third is engulfed in dense blackthorn and brambles. There are raths (MA071-165----; MA071-171001) 175m to NW and 265m to SE, respectively, and an enclosure (MA071-162----) is 252m to W on the opposite side of the river. In pasture, on a rise with a steep fall of ground to NE, and good views in all directions over undulating terrain. The Pollagh River is 240m to W and the Glore River is 270m to E. Roughly circular slightly raised area (32.4m E−W; 31m N−S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.8m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.5m, at SSE), which has been has been levelled at SSE−WNW. The bank is quite low and degraded on its inner edge, retaining only a low internal rim. It is reduced to a scarp (H 1.1m at W) at W−NNE, with a particularly steep external slope (H 1.55m) at N−NNE, which is cut quite vertically. The interior is level and grassy; ground level rises very slightly in the SW quadrant. The original entrance may have been at ENE, where a gap (Wth 3.5m) now allows tractor access to the interior. According to local tradition, there may be a souterrain (MA071-165001-) in the rath. A field wall/property boundary, oriented NW−SE, crosses the SW edge of the rath. In pasture, straddling a rise on a ridge, with the Pollagh River 380m to W. Slightly raised circular area (diam. c. 40m) defined by an earthen bank. The bank is difficult to examine due to dense overgrowth. It is substantial at SE−S (Wth 3m; int. H 0.45m; H 1.8m at SE) with a steep external slope, which is faced with drystone walling where it has been incorporated into a later field wall. It also appears substantial at NNW (Wth 3-4m; int. H 1-1.2m; ext. H 1.6m), but at NE−E it is low, narrow and degraded, with a few large stones protruding on its inner edge. It is particularly low on the E arc, which may have been the site of an original entrance, though no clearly defined gap is evident now. In parts, stones can be seen along the top of the bank. A souterrain (MA071-171002-) is indicated as ‘Cave’ in the NW quadrant of the rath on the 1838 OS 6-inch map. A roughly-built drystone field wall (Wth 0.6m; H 0.5) crosses the centre of the interior on a NNW−SSE axis. The bank is ringed with hawthorn trees and brambles, and brambles have encroached on the interior, particularly in the NW quadrant. There are raths (MA071-172----; MA071-170----; MA071-164----; MA071-165----) 140m to SSE, 280m to SW, 275m to NW and 280m to NNW, respectively. In a rath (MA071-171001-). This souterrain is named ‘Cave’ on the 1838 OS 6-inch map, where it is shown against the inner face of the rath bank at NW. A low rise/bank (Wth 3-4m; H 0.5m) encloses a semicircular area (max. dim. c. 5-6m) against the inner face of the rath bank in the NW quadrant. This may be the location of the souterrain. In pasture, on a gentle NE-facing slope on a ridge, with the Glore River 190m to E. There are good views, most extensive to N−ESE overlooking the river valley. Slightly raised circular area (41m E−W; 41.2m N−S) defined by an earthen scarp (H 1.65m at N, 1.8m at NE, 0.7m at S). The scarp is higher on the NE arc to compensate for the natural slope; it has a steep, quite vertical external slope and retains a slight narrow, internal lip which may be the result of incorporation into a later field boundary. At SE−W the scarp is rather low and dilapidated, and is quite broken down at SSE and at W. To N of centre in the interior, there is a slightly raised semicircular feature (diam. 5.5-6m NW−SE) of uncertain significance, is defined by a scarp (H 0.8 at NE) curving NW−E, which coincides with the natural slope. A few stones protrude randomly around the edge. The rath scarp is ringed with hawthorn and hazel trees. The interior is grassy, the surface uneven and poached by cattle.
