In pasture, on a small, low rise in an area of lowlying, poorly drained terrain, bordered at NW by a stream/drain. A circular embanked enclosure (diam. c. 30m) is shown on the 1838 OS 6-inch map; it is not shown on later map edition. There is no visible surface trace at ground level. - Beech Tree Cottage, house, 1841–1893, Regional interest, registry number 31311131, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=MA&regno=31311131. Detached four-bay single-storey direct entry thatched house, extant 1893. "Restored", 2004, to accommodate occasional use. Replacement pitched Turkish reed thatch roof on collared timber construction with exposed wire stretchers to raised ridge having blind scallops, cement rendered chimney stack supporting terracotta pots, and concrete coping to gables. Replacement cement rendered battered walls. Square-headed window openings with concrete sills[?], and concealed dressings framing replacement two-over-two timber sash windows. Square-headed opposing door openings with concealed dressings framing replacement timber boarded or tongue-and-groove timber panelled half-doors. Interior including kitchen retaining "hipped" hearth, timber boarded opposing doors, and exposed collared timber roof construction. Road fronted with hardcore gravel verge to front.
